Use Cases Containing Temporal Concepts

Case 1: Elapse Time

“IF there is still chest pain after 20 minutes, give nitroglycerine via IV instead of PO”

Case 2: Duration of symptom

“Fever over 100F last 72 hours” This is an example of modeling the duration of a process

Case 3: Frequency

Management of Diabetes Type 1

Glycated Hemoglobin Test (A1C)

  • Perform the A1C test at least two times a year in patients who are meeting treatment goals (and who have stable glycemic control).
  • Perform the A1C test quarterly in patients whose therapy has changed or who are not meeting glycemic goals.
  • Use of point-of-care testing for A1C allows for timely decisions on therapy changes, when needed

Take Aspirin, once a day for 10 days
