EIT ICT Labs meet W3 on Web Applications In Your Car - Paris 23 April 2012

This is a page about an informal meeting arranged by Christian Müller Intelligent Mobility and Transportation Systems, EIT ICT Labs, | the GetHomeSafe Consortium, Dave Raggett W3C, and Christoph Endres German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence.

This meeting will have an open agenda and participants are encouraged to make brief presentations along with a list of questions and suggestions. The meeting is due to start promptly at 09:30 and run until 17:30. Coffee will be available from 09:00.

Topics

Cars are the next big opportunity for Web applications. Open Web technologies will reduce development costs compared to native apps which incur steep learning curves for each platform.

What APIs are needed for automotive apps? How to deal with trust, security, privacy and road safety? How to create apps that span user devices, e.g. coupling the car, smart phones, tablets, and devices in the car and on the users home network? How take advantage of the unique opportunities specific to automotive? With the emphasis on voice for eyes free operation, what standards are needed for intent based search?
