how to provide a summary of a table, e.g. for unsighted navigation?

HTML 4 has a summary attribute on tables allowing authors to provide a textual hint as to the purpose of a table. This attribute is not currently in HTML 5. This change may have an impact on accessibility and the so the attribute should be considered for inclusion in HTML 5.
