Description Daniel de Rauglaudre 2004-09-14 16:25:57 UTC
The validator complains on attribute "name" of "map", however required for this
tag, if I understand HTML and XHTML standards well.

If I replace the "name" by "id", it does not complains any more, but the areas
links do not work on my agent (Mozilla 1.8a3, a very recent version).

There is no "name" attribute for "map" in the doctype you are using (XHTML 1.1), see:
http://www.w3.org/TR/2001/REC-xhtml11-20010531/changes.html#a_changes

I do not have details at hand, but I remember seeing reports that some implementation of image maps
in XHTML were buggy, that might be the reason why your browser fails to parse the map when
removing the "name" attribute.

You could probably just use another doctype, unless you absolutely need XHTML 1.1.

Oops, you are right, my fault; OK, I changed back to DOCTYPE XHTML 1.0...
Oups, t'as raison, au temps pour moi, j'avais pas vu la page...
