"My tests" are actually your tests, the ones found on github [1]. I saved them all so that I can run them in Orca's regression test harness. The commit -- from which the state of support can be gleaned -- can be found here [2]. In summary:
Discoverability
1. For all tests where the image is not empty, Orca presents "has description".
2. For tests where the image is empty, Gecko fails to expose the presence of the longdesc via ATK or "to all users". I filed a bug in Mozilla's tracker [3].
Access
For all tests where Gecko exposes an image and the presence of the longdesc:
1. When the description is not part of a fragment, Orca presents the description as expected.
2. For tests where the description is found in a fragment, Orca does not present the page starting with that fragment. It presents the page starting from the top. Initially, I thought this was an Orca bug. Turns out it is not; it's a Gecko bug -- and one which is not limited to longdesc. After chatting about this at length with one of the Mozilla Accessibility developers, a bug was filed by that developer [4].
In order for the empty image and fragment tests to pass, Mozilla needs to fix their bugs. When they do so, the failing tests should start passing automatically.
I didn't see anything in the tests about screen readers stopping at the end of the description. But should such a test appear, Orca will not pass it unless the author takes deliberate action to mark the content which follows as hidden. This is because Orca is not grabbing the description; Orca's moving to it. Then the user is able to read what's there just like any other page of content.
@Charles: I hope this gives you everything you need to add Orca (v3.13.91) + Firefox to your grid of test results. If not, do please let me know. Thanks!
