Original

Examples

  • A site contains a scrolling news banner at the top of the page. Users who need more time to read it can press the Escape key to pause the scrolling. Pressing Escape again restarts it.
  • A Web page contains a link labeled "How to tie a shoe" which links to a Flash animation. Text immediately preceding the link informs the user that pressing the spacebar will pause the animation and restart it again.

Suggested Changes

Modify the existing two bullets:

  • A site contains a scrolling news banner at the top of the page. Users who need more time to read it can pause or restart the scrolling through multiple predefined mechanisms (Examples are the Escape key on a keyboard, giving a voice command, and performing a gesture on a touch screen.)
  • A Web page contains a link labeled "How to tie a shoe" which links to a Flash animation. Text immediately preceding the link informs the user that pressing the spacebar or touching the screen will pause the animation and restart it again.

Insert as bullet #3 under Examples heading:

  • A site contains a carousel of products that automatically rotate. Users who need more time to read about the product can pause the scrolling by activating the "Pause" button by any input mode available on their device.
