Participation

Participation is open to members in good standing of W3C/WAI's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines Working Group (WCAG WG), and to individuals interested in participating in and contributing to the efforts of the WCAG WG. Any participants not already members of the WCAG WG should read the WCAG WG Charter and the how to join page, and send the requested information to the WCAG WG Chair and staff contact.

The focus of this meeting is to advance the WCAG 2.0 techniques documents. We welcome people who are engaged in developing Web content but who are not involved in the WCAG WG. However, we request that they familiarize themselves with and be interested in coordinating their efforts with WCAG WG.

This WCAG WG meeting is held during the early part of W3C's Technical Plenary and WG Meeting Event, in Cambridge, Massachusetts USA. If you are interested in other parts of the Technical Plenary Week, which includes a day of general presentations and discussion on Wednesday, please note carefully the instructions regarding participation and registration for different parts of the week, and email the WCAG WG Chairs or staff contact with any questions.

Registration

Pre-registration is required of everyone attending the WCAG WG meeting on 4 March 2003, and for any other portion of the Tech Plenary Week.

Agenda

9:30 - 10:45 Plenary discussion of general topics

  1. How do we develop techniques that apply to multiple guidelines?
  2. How do we develop techniques that apply to multiple technologies?
  3. How do we map from success criteria to techniques?

11:00 - 12:30 Break into subgroups to work on
- general techniques issues
- html techniques issues
- css techniques issues
- SVG techniques
- core Techniques, notes from july 2002 review
- Possible work items for this session of the agenda:
  1. Take an existing techniques document and map techniques to success criteria.
  2. Pick a few of the open issues and try to resolve (i.e., write a proposal).
  3. Continue work on prototypes for checklists and generated views.
  4. Review existing sites for conformance to latest draft of WCAG 2.0.
  5. Review existing sites for common practices or new coding trends.

1:30 - 3:00 Plenary discussion of the morning subgroup progress reports

3:15 - 4:30 Meet with the EOWG to coordinate on WCAG deliverables (fyi: EOWG meeting agenda)
- WCAG WG: supporting materials they're preparing, and materials they'd like to have
- EOWG: existing materials that we think need to be transitioned
- Discussion: priorities, amount of work needed, schedule
4:30 - 5:30 Planning and next steps
5:30 - 6:30 Internationalization WG joins us for discussion about developing guidelines and shared use cases.
- Relationships between guidelines, checkpoints, success criteria, and techniques
- Why are we using structured data? history and lessons.
- Discussion of coordination points.
- Development of joint use case
