Change requests from September 6, 2002 discussion
- Discussion of draft of Gallery framework:
- Agreements on goal of gallery (try building this into an introductory section for the gallery)
- demonstrate that there is both interest and implementation
- showcase organizations that are succeeding at this, with intent to influence others
- show accessibility with a variety of good design examples
- provide real world picture, not limited and static
- point to the organizational processes & practices
- How much of a site should we point to?
- things we agreed on:
- On any site we point to, the home has to be accessible
- If we are pointing to home pages, we would need to point to some sub-pages as well
- things we did not agree on:
- Home page + a few
- Home page + a corner
- Comment on what is especially good on the site
- Provide service for companies on the list to get feedback from users
- Home page + several pages on a random
- Pointing to sites say they're making an effort, not perfect conforming site
- Use a hybrid approach to showcase best practices
- Content of disclaimer (comments on gallery framework)
- clarify accessibility disclaimer: wcag 1.0 aa yes, absolute accessibility no, and not from day to day either
- clarify on " regardless of its accessibility level" instead " regardless of its conformance level"
- clarify that inclusion in gallery is not an endorsement of other than wcag 1.0 conformance, such as usability
- Miscellaneous:
- further discuss how much can be monitored automatically
- provide ways for sites to nominate themselves, while making clear that we cannot promise to review them all
- Include private dialog as part of the gallery process
- Next steps:
- draft a framework that includes an introduction and disclaimers
- proceed with initial off-line reviews of a few candidate sites
- provide cross-reviews (independent counter-reviews) to verify initial evaluations
- identify issues in evaluating, selecting, and monitoring sites based on these pilot reviews
