Review Action Items

Contacts

Jb: Reminder to send Judy links if you want them from the membership list.  Still asking for some additional contacts who do EO-like things.
Ss: still thinking about contacts in Asia
Db: suggested a name from Asia - will send the contact info to Judy today.
Jb: did contact Jaap from EU, but he may not participate.
St: did send something to Judy, but will resend.

WAI-TIDE/RNIB EO workpackages

Pb: the package Steve is sending has important info on videos and presentation.

Sample implementations

Jb: code sample development - has talked to Harvey.  Three areas most helpful: tables, interactive forms, and maybe stylesheets.  Chris Lilly and Hakon Lie's stuff may be pretty good.  If Harvey focuses on tables, is anyone willing to take on interactive forms?
Jb: described the project as good examples or code samples.
Wl: talk to Dave Ragget - best on forms.

Reference card

Jb: Dick was to draft up a quick reference card.
Db: time constraints, but he guarantees will be done and up by Monday.
Jb: - the InterNIC 15-minute series -

Interactive CD/Web site

Possibility of getting funding for a reference CD, but she is leaning towards an interactive Web site.  Exchanging e-mails with Sunrise people in Australia who have a site/cd and has asked them what kind of content it contained.

More on group participation

Hb: not able to get someone from SoftQuad to join the EO.
Mp: talked to SoftQuad last evening and thinks they may now be interested.
Jb: would be very happy to have SoftQuad representation.
Wl: what about Cynthia Waddell
Jb: has been trying to contact her.

Events calendar

Jb: Kitch Barnicle has agreed to coordinate the "event's calendar" information

Review timeline & deliverables

Jb: had started a planning list with about 30 different deliverables
Jb: compiled a list of deliverables that appeared anywhere and has tried to identify owners: list is partial right now. She and Daniel have started going through the list to see which need to be coordinated with WAI/TIDE activities.  List is not yet available to the WG.
ACTION ITEM: Will put it out by this weekend.

Discussion on hard copy promotional material

Jb: What are the most essential hard copy things we need to have available?  One was the Quick Reference Card. Basic promotional brochure.
Cl: a general brochure with paragraphs about the W3C, the WAI, the WG's, and pointers to WAI resources.
St: seconds Chuck's comment.  A general overarching look at the project for general audiences.
Ss: include a few "whys" about why access is important.
Hb: add up front that "these techniques are useful for hands-free/eyes free" i.e universal access.
Mn: would like to say that Japan is further behind than North America and Europe.
Jb: we could add something saying that some countries are not at the same level and provide references.  Should look professional but not cluttered.
Cl:: would require a Canadian French version, but could probably get it translated over here.
Dd: identifying languages: through EC commisioner to see what language priorities - probably 5 languages in priority, and up to 12 for less critical.
Ss: on what basis will we make translation decisions?  For instance, the Indian subcontinent would be a good target if Hindi is available.
Jb: probably looking at current involvement in WAI for priorities, but volunteers for translation are wildly appreciated.
Ss: might be able to get a Hindi translation.
Jb: Dutch translation also been volunteered.

Slide sets - curriculum set

Jb: what kinds of things should we have.
Mp:  would best like to see a set that would allow people to mix and match for the needs of a particular workshop.
Db: could we beg borrow or steal for EO to ask people who are doing it?
Jb: would like some uniformity for what we are presenting under.  Some modules might be: MP: heavier set related to PAG's, but also need for sysadmins, WebMasters, etc., need more on Java, frames, etc., rather than easier things to do; but sometimes get other groups that are heterogeneous;
Jb: who else is doing presentations besides those on call: DOIT,  Alan Cantor, Geoff Freed, Gregg Vanderheiden, Cynthia Waddell, Jutta Treviranus.
Wl:  will the master slide set preclude someone like Chuck or Mike from using their own slides or  putting their own spin on things.
Mp: too early to say - will depend on a lot of factors - since he has to tailor his presentations carefully to the individual audience.
Jb - isn't comfortable asking people to "committ" to using the WAI set, and these would be a resource, but not a requirement.  Wants to make sure sets are high-quality, mix & match modular

Jb: would like to talk to a few folks offline about writing different modules for this. Who would like to help?
Sheela, Peter, Chuck, Masafumi, Geoff, Jim, Mike, William (collecting), Harvey, Jutta (suggested)

ACTION ITEM: William would like to help compile existing slides.
ACTION ITEM: Cl: will provide a URL of his current slide set at the next meeting.
Ja: provide speaker notes if possible.
Jb: Powerpoint is not very accessible
ACTION ITEM: Mn: knows of a powerpoint to html converter and will provide information.
ST: translation agencies, France, Germany, Japan, Spain, Italy
ACTION ITEM: DD: will talk with EC Officer, for priority translation requirements
Gf: uses a lot of pre-whacked sites in preparation examples for presentations

Updates on interactive "pre-whacked" web site

Jb: describe a number of possible sections.  Those most interested Sheela, Geoff, Steve, Helen (suggested), Sunrise (suggested)
Ja: Jim will work with Kitch
St: as part of the EC and RNIB funded work -  working with Helen Petrie to develop a web site of resources with lots of materials.  It would make sense to have a joint effort.
Jb - the Sunrise people of Australia should brought in.
