RED and Router Fair Queuing
You might think you want to use more than one TCP connection between client/server pair, but:
It is hard on the network
More of your data will be delayed by the "slow start" algorithm
You use more packets and therefore CPU time for both client and server
It won't, in the near future, get you more bandwidth over the network...
Two algorithms in routers will ensure "fair" allocation of bandwidth
RED - random drop of packets when router buffers fill
Fair queuing algorithm will also help guarantee fairness
More is not necessarily better
