Submission request to W3C (W3C Team Comment)
We, representatives of NEC Corporation, hereby submit to the Consortium the following specification comprising the document linked below:
which collectively are referred to as "the submission". We request the submission be known as the "PIDL" submission.
This submission describes an XML syntax for Personalized Information Description Languag (PIDL). The purpose of PIDL is to facilitate personalization of online information by providing enhanced interoperability between personalization applications. PIDL provides a common framework for applications to progressively process original contents and append personalized versions in a compact format. PIDL supports the personalization of different media (e.g. plain text, structured text, graphics, etc), multiple personalization methods (such as filtering, sorting, replacing, etc) and different delivery methods (for example SMTP, HTTP, IP-multicasting, etc).
NEC agrees that, upon adoption of this submission as a W3C Recommendation, any W3C members will be able to obtain a licence from NEC to implement and use the technology described in this submission on a royalty-free basis.
The name PIDL is a trademark of NEC, in Japan. NEC grants to W3C the right and licence to use the trademark for the processing, establishment, and maintainance of PIDL as a W3C Recommendation, according to normal W3C requirements and procedures.
NEC expressly reserves all other rights it may have in the material and subject matter of this contribution. NEC expressly disclaims any and all warranties regarding this contribution including any warranty that this contribution does not violate the rights of others or is fit for a particular purpose.
