Comment on HTML Components Submission

W3C is pleased to receive the HTML Components submission from Microsoft Corporation.

It describes a proposal for treating HTML documents as application building blocks, where such documents are written using HTML, stylesheets and scripts. A number of new tags are described for declaring components, properties, methods and events.

Whilst the proposal is presented in terms of its application to HTML, it would appear to be of potential interest more generally to other tagsets written in XML.

Next Steps

The proposal is potentially related to work in W3C's HTML Activity and Document Object Model Activity. The specification will be brought to the attention of the participants of these Activities for consideration.
