We provide REQUIRED terms for copyright of all Submissions; we provide additional REQUIRED and RECOMMENDED terms for Submissions that may be used a contribution towards a W3C Activity. Failure to provide the REQUIRED terms and the character of other terms will affect the likelihood of a Submission being acknowledged and/or used as a contribution within a W3C Activity.)

Copyrights

REQUIRED

[Submitter/Author] hereby grants to the W3C a perpetual, nonexclusive, royalty-free, world-wide right and license under any [Submitter/Author] copyrights on this contribution, to copy, publish and distribute the contribution under the W3C document licenses.

If the Submission is meant to be incorporated into W3C work, then add:

Additionally, should the Submission be used as a contribution towards a W3C Activity, [Submitter/Author] grants a right and license of the same scope to any derivative works prepared by the W3C and based on, or incorporating all or part of, the contribution. [Submitter/Author] further agrees that any derivative works of this contribution prepared by the W3C shall be solely owned by the W3C.

The organization I represent on the W3C Advisory Committee [agrees or does not agree] to offer licenses according to the W3C Royalty-Free licensing requirements described in section 5 of the 15 September 2020 W3C Patent Policy for any portion of the Submission that is subsequently incorporated in a W3C Recommendation.

REQUIRED for non-Member Authors

The organization I represent as a contributor to this Submission [agrees or does not agree] to offer licenses according to the W3C Royalty-Free licensing requirements described in section 5 of the 15 September 2020 W3C Patent Policy for any portion of the Submission that is subsequently incorporated in a W3C Recommendation.

The Director SHALL NOT acknowledge the Submission if one or more Submitters (or others who provide patent licenses associated with the submitted document) do not supply the required statement.
