Despite W3C hopes of a synergy between this meeting , the SGML-Europe '96 in Munich, and the WWW5 conference in Paris, the organizers have feedback from would-be participants and presenters that the timing is not optimal for this event. The meeting will be rescheduled at some future date.

The W3 Consortium will be holding a workshop on the future of HTML
on Saturday the 11th of May 1996.
This is the day between the
WWW5 conference
in Paris and the SGML
meeting in Munich.
W3C wishes to enhance communication between the two overlapping communities of SGML and HTML.
Admission will be limited to 100 people. Discussion will occur
in break-out
groups.
The topic and themes are what in general will be the future
of HTML,
To solve the problem of what should happen with HTML, this meeting will bring together people and organizations with opposing views , those with vested interests and those who are builders and critics of the present versions.

Attendees are encouraged to stimulate discussion by preparing statements as notes or papers to be read by attendees before the meeting. Some likely discussion topics for which position notes are needed:
