Working with Variations in Calendars

This page will discuss variations between different calendar systems. The Gregorian calendar forms the basis for most Internet standards for recording time (such as ISO 8601, XML Schema's various date types, and so on). While any particular date-time value can be mapped back and forth between this Gregorian-based representation and that of some other calendar system, there are calculated or observed values/events that are difficult to map without an arbitrarily large list of mappings.
