this is the file that does not open. It has much text plus math equations

When trying to open a file there is no error message.
It simply says "cannot open, Amaya will exit". Something to that effect.
Amaya thinks for a fews econds, then stops.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1 plus MathML 2.0//EN"
      "http://www.w3.org/TR/MathML2/dtd/xhtml-math11-f.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"
 xmlns:m="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xml:lang="en">
<head>
  <title>MA-2-1pict</title>
  <meta http-equiv="content-type"
  content="application/xhtml+xml; charset=UTF-8" />
  <style type="text/css" media="screen">

      etc.

The file displays perfectly in a XHTML editor. But that editor cannot be used to add additional MathML code.

I am completely stuck. Your help is urgent.
Thanks,
Ralph
