Description Gez Lemon 2010-01-07 11:00:44 UTC
The spec states: "Note: Firing a synthetic click event at the element does not cause any of the actions described above to happen."

Synthetic click should always be the same as real click. This is used by lots of accessibility techniques.

Status: Rejected
Change Description: no spec change
Rationale: This isn't talking about synthetic clicks but about synthetic 'click' events. However, if that is what you meant, then do you have a test case demonstrating what you mean? I think what is specced here is consistent with implementations.

Per the proposal at http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-a11y/2010Jan/0245.html, the HTML A11Y TF does not plan to formally work on this issue at this time. This does not mean the TF has no interest in it, but does not have immediate plans to work on it. The TF may review the issue in the future.
