Description Terje Bless 2004-09-01 11:12:48 UTC
cf. Bug #740.

When the DOCTYPE Override or related features modifies the document data before
processing, the Show Source view should reflect this fact by distinguishing the
affected source lines. In the case of Bug #740, the lines containing the new
DOCTYPE should be highlighted in some fashion.

I believe I disagree that the show source function should show any source but
the source of the document and thus disagree with this feature request.
Comment 2 Olivier Thereaux 2005-03-25 06:09:08 UTC
The issue, if I understand it correctly, is that it's difficult to refer to line #n if the line numbers are different
before and after the changes (and that happens with doctype override/feedback), and it's difficult to avoid
that in the current framework of the validator.
Comment 3 Ville Skyttä 2009-10-05 18:38:01 UTC
I believe the issue of changing line numbers is no longer a problem as the validator has become more careful in replacing the doctype and should be doing it without adding/removing any linefeeds.
