I am running Amays 11.1 in Windows Vista. I am editing a .htm file which I have placed on my desktop, C:\Users\Ciarán Ó Duibhín\Desktop\gaelicus.htm. I can open this file with Internet Explorer, FrontPage, UltraEdit, or any other program, and it is fine. But if I double-click it which runs Amaya and opens the file I see a DIFFERENT file. I see an old version which I have deleted earlier. After spending most of a day investigating, it appears that Amaya has, at some time and without my knowledge, placed a version of my file in C:\Users\Ciarán Ó Duibhín\amaya\1\gaelicus.htm. When I now open my file from the desktop icon, Amaya gives me this obsolete version, and even labels it with the path of the correct file rather than the path of the file which it opened. On the other hand, when I open Amaya with some other file displayed (eg. C:\Program Files\Amaya\amaya\AmayaPage_WX.html), and then double-click on my desktop icon, I see the right version of my file. It is all against computing intuition to have one program connect an icon to a different file than the file to which all other programs, following the operating system, connect it. If the user does not notice that he has been given the wrong file all the more likely when it is labelled by the name of the right file it is potentially disastrous. Ciarán Ó Duibhín.
To reproduce this behaviour (Vista Home Premium and Amaya 11.1): Take any .htm file, and create a file of the same name (but entirely different content) in your AmayaHome or AmayaTemp folder for me, that's C:\Users\Ciarán Ó Duibhín\amaya\1\ Make this new file READONLY (important) Close Amaya (imortant) Now, when you try to open the original file by double-clicking its icon, or by right-clicking the icon and choosing "open with amaya", amaya will open the new file.
I am no longer using Amaya.
