The XML schema spec defines the following for id constraints:

Each constraint declaration has a name, which exists in a single symbol space for constraints.

We need to clarify the same for SML id constraints. We should also clarify whether this symbol space is disjoint from the xml schema constraint symbol space or whether it overlaps it.

Proposal:
Each SML identity constraint declaration has a name, which exists in a single symbol space for SML constraints. This symbol space is disjoint from the symbol space of XML constraints.

decision at redmond f2f:
consensus reached on the proposal as stated.

1 ed. change: the proposal should read 'XML Schema constraints' instead of 'XML constraints'

added the text to section 4.4 Identity Constraints
