This is an archived snapshot of W3C's public bugzilla bug tracker, decommissioned in April 2019. Please see the home page for more details.
You write: "The set of relationships supported by an implementation is implementation-defined, but implementations SHOULD support the relationships defined in [ISO 2788]." To assure interoperability between thesaurus option, I wonder if SHOULD should be a MUST.
There are existing implementations whose thesaurus support does not conform to ISO 2788. In order to encourage implementations to support this specification sooner rather than later, we should not make the job not difficult to achieve. However, future version of this spec may choose to tighten the requirements, changing SHOULD to MUST. If you accept this explanation, please close the bug.
Apologies for late reply, I did not see the comment at http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=4669#c1 I'm fine with this bug being closed. Felix
