Description Michael Kay 2007-01-02 16:10:41 UTC
In the Microsoft "schema" test set,

   <test group="schD8" name="schD8"/>

the schema contains

	<include schemaLocation="file://"/>

The schema is described as valid, on the basis that failure to resolve the schemaLocation is not intrinsically an error.

However, I believe that file:// is an invalid xs:anyURI value, and that this schema therefore violates the schema-for-schemas. The clause saying that failure to resolve the URI is not an error does not license the use of an invalid URI.

Agreed that this test outcome should be invalid. We are following up with the WG to determine the process of updating the test suite.
Comment 2 Henry S. Thompson 2010-01-27 11:17:33 UTC
I'm not sure whether this test makes sense, given that URI-checking is not
required. . . I would argue we should remove the test, not change the outcome
to invalid
Comment 3 Henry S. Thompson 2010-01-29 15:44:51 UTC
Actually, another case for the mooted 'implDep' marking
Comment 4 David Ezell 2010-05-21 17:05:02 UTC
WG decided that the existing URI is invalid, and that we replace it with a valid URI that doesn't resolve. As such, this test would be valid for either 1.0 or 1.1.
