Description Andrew Eisenberg 2006-07-18 18:57:34 UTC
Xavier Franc sent a message with the following text to the public comments list [1]. I am entering it here so that we can better capture discussion and resolution of this issue.

There are still many "import schema" declarations in MinimalConformance
tests (around 250, nearly 2%).

There are still many "import schema" declarations in MinimalConformance
tests (around 250, nearly 2%).

These tests will always fail with an implementation that does not
support Schema:
"If an XQuery implementation does not support the Schema Import Feature,
it MUST raise a static error [err:XQST0009] if it encounters a schema
import."

IMHO those tests should be moved into the "Optional" part, rather than
be adorned with an "expected-error" clause.

I am looking forward to seeing this done in the 1.0 version.

Comment 1 Andrew Eisenberg 2006-07-21 19:58:28 UTC
The Testing TF has considered this issue and will be reviewing all of our test cases that include "import schema".

Where the import schema statement is not needed, it will be removed. Where it is possible to replace the schema import statement with just a namespace declaration, we will do so. If neither of these actions is possible and the test case is not already in the Schema Import group under Optional Features, we will move it there.

We will mark this Bugzilla report RESOLVED when this review has been completed.
