The element selected from the source document contains whitespace text nodes. Neither of the expected test result files include this whitespace.

I believe the second set of results are the ones intended for implementation not supporting schemas.  I changed the second set of results to include the
whitespaces.  Will mark it as closed for now, but will double check with task force regarding validity.

The current two sets of results differ in how negative zero is represented. But I agree, a processor that takes the input from the PSVI should, it seems, discard the whitespace text nodes.
