I've just installed Amaya from the download page a few weeks ago and haven't been able to get much use out of it because ... there is no menu bar. I can only do things via the icons that appear near where the menu bar should be. Needless to say, this heavily restricts how much I can do with it.

I initially thought this was just an annoying UI design choice, but decided to try to learn how to work around it tonight by searching Google for how to accomplish common tasks ("how to save as in Amaya," etc.), and have noticed that the manual constantly refers to the menu. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the menu to pop up.

I'm not able to determine which version I'm using because ... I can't choose anything from the help menu (or wherever the "about" option is). Runnng "amaya --help" and "amaya -h" just pops up a new tab in Amaya (with a complaint that it can't find a file named "--help"). There also seems to be no manpage for Amaya, so I can't determine that way what version I'm using, either.

I meant to mention, as well, that I'm running the i686 version of Amaya under Ubuntu Linux 11.10 on a Sony VAIO laptop with 2GB of RAM at 2.2 GHz.

Someone changed my OS from Linux to Windows 3.1.

This is not correct. I'm changing it back. I haven't used Windows 3.1 since the 90s.

Hello, I am facing the same issue.
I recently installed Amaya 11.44 i686 under LinuxMint 14 (nadia), kernel 3.5.0-24-generic and there is no menu.

I do confirm. No menu bar.
Cannot use it.

Ubuntu 12.04.
Notebook Acer Aspire 7750G. Video Card AMD Radeon HD 6650M

May be a video driver trouble?
