Description Paul J. Lucas 2010-12-11 16:25:11 UTC
The XQuery and XPath Full Text 1.0 specification in section 3.4.3 says in part:

> Relationships include, but are not limited to, the relationships and their abbreviations presented in [ISO 2788] and their equivalents in other languages.

and:

> hierarchical relationships: BROADER TERM (BT), NARROWER TERM (NT), BROADER TERM GENERIC (BTG), NARROWER TERM GENERIC (NTG), BROADER TERM PARTITIVE (BTP), NARROWER TERM PARTITIVE (NTP), TOP Terms (TT) ...

Note that all the relationships are singular (e.g., "narrower term" and not "terms"). ISO 2788 section 4.1 also only specifies the relationships in singular form. Yet in the XQuery and XPath Full Text 1.0 Use Cases section 7.2.2, there is a query that uses "narrower terms" (plural form) for the relationship.

An XQuery implementation can allow plural forms for relationships if wants, but to have a plural form in a Use Case is wrong.

Hi Paul,

We have changed both the FT use cases document and the FT test suite to use "narrower term" instead of "narrower terms" as you recommended. The changes to the test suite are visible now. The changes to the use cases will be visible when next we publish.

If you agree that this resolves the bug, please mark the bug closed.
