We should consider adding the ability to specify serialization parameters using the XML/XDM format specified by Henry Zongaro, and recently accepted by the XQuery WG.

The minutes of the Prague F2F (March 2011) record:

DECIDED at 7 Oct. 2010 telcon: Issue 10163 falls below the line. No objection in principle, but not a high enough priority.
