ACT Standup

daniel: follow-up on answers from aria working group

follow up with agwg chairs re process

helen: community group meeting next meeting on 7th

Tom: looking at some how our tool aligns with

<kathy> https://github.com/act-rules/act-rules.github.io/pull/2101

Kathy: visible label in name pr. enough approvals. will send out a call for review

daniel submitted act rules and approved

Update ACT Rules Format for secondary req and acc support

<Wilco> https://github.com/w3c/wcag-act/pull/540/files

wilco - needs approval on item 540 and 550

re 540 - tom agrees

kathy - coded in a certain way to add an image in an link versus aria element??

wilco - no, this has to do with autoplay. put it in as a secondary.

tom - should emphasize "must not"

wilco - made the change. will put in a resolution.

kathy - will look and see if she needs assistance on the merge

RESOLUTION: Accept PR #540 as ammended

does not need to go out for a call for review

will send the rules format to the working group and that should be it

but need to resolve the merge conflict first

Next pr - 1550

<Wilco> https://github.com/w3c/wcag-act/pull/550/files

Update ACT Rules Format background and change log

wilco - a little bigger... moving things around a bit

renaming change logs to role versions

Daniel - background reference missing with new formulation

Daniel - also noticing when putting spec names into brackets. will do another editorial pass for aria 1.2 and wcag 2.2

tom - id stays the same for new rule version?

wilco - yes

wilco - put in 2 suggestions - line 104, line 512

RESOLUTION: Accept PR 550 as amended

no objections to approving with suggestions

wilco will put in resolution to merge

wilco - send an email to rest of task force that ready for working draft. will not be ready if we do a cfc but this is probably the right way to do it. so will put out a cfc, which will give daniel time to do an editorial pass. should be ready for tomorrow.

Iframe elements with identical accessible names have equivalent purpose

wilco - survey review re Iframe

wilco - has a question about this. would prefer "iframe has descriptive name"

Tom - not so sure he agrees with this. having a the same name with different resources. this is different from descriptive name.

wilco - refers to passed example 8. is that a failure?

tom - what does equivalent purpose mean?

<Wilco> https://www.w3.org/WAI/standards-guidelines/act/rules/4b1c6c/proposed/#passed-example-8

wilco - who thinks passed example 8 should be a failure?

helen - "i do"

Tom - fail

catherine - fail

kathy - not really covered in trusted tester but agree, should fail if same name goes to two different links

helen - if context is the same around it in different locations, still fail

wilco - page isn't necessarily going to know what's inside the iframe. so not sure it's possible to do this.

wilco - is a generic name acceptable if can't tell where the iframe is going?

wilco - generic names for advertising might be ok if don't know where the link is going?

<kathy> https://www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG21/Techniques/html/H64

kathy - H64 is supposed to be a good example

kathy - doesn't have to be specific. can just be "advertisement".

helen - still doesn't think this is a good enough reason that w3c has an example

kathy - she can accept this

helen - still no

daniel - yes

helen - if no context there, still no. But if context, ok

tom and catherine - ok if can name it ad 1 and ad 2

wilco - will ask ag

tom - with this rule or a different rule?

wilco - if not going to be an automated rule, it does not have to be restrained. we should replace this rule. we could copy and paste from image has a descriptive name. this is a manual testing rule

kathy - question about passed example 10. needs to distinguish if pointing to page 1 or 2.

tom - purpose of content. which makes it more difficult to look at this as an automated rule.

wilco - keep rule or replace it?

tom - rule focused on descriptive around multiple resources would be better

kathy - push to ag even if we should write a different rule? use of "equivalent resources" is vague.

wilco - will write a different rule and not send to ag

wilco next steps - 1 - open issue with ag asking specific names with iframe. 2 - work with community group to write a new rule to replace and depricate.

tom will do this

<Wilco> https://github.com/w3c/wcag/

<Wilco> https://github.com/w3c/wcag/discussions/3549

tom - 2131 - 3 approvals - next steps??

wilco - go out for cfr

tom - also 2109
