Meeting minutes
New Issue Triage
dmontalvo: dpub-aam/#34
dmontalvo: wait for dpub WG to address
dmontalvo: aria/#2075
scotto: was looking through all elements that can be named by author, and `time` popped up
… don’t oppose it, but don’t understand it
… do we really want this to be named?
MattKing: seems like a potential generic
scotto: let’s all look at it asynchronously and agenda if needed
dmontalvo: aria/#2074
scotto: found this during the same investigation as #2075
… this one might deserve more attention
… HTML equivalents for definition and term are <dfn> and nothing for term
… during role parity discussions, we did say that each can name the other
dmontalvo: I’ll agenda this one
dmontalvo: aria/#2073
Rahim: I was reviewing roles which cannot be named
… and noticed that `none` is there, but not `presentation`
… do we always want none and presentation to be listed together?
dmontalvo: any background from anyone?
Matt_King: none was added much later as a synonym
… I think this is an editorial issue
jcraig: initially presentation was the only one, but web authors kept misunderstanding that `role="presentation"` is equivalent to `aria-hidden="true"`
… some elements now have a preference between `presentation` and `none`
pkra: isn’t this just a technical editors issue?
dmontalvo: agreed, please agenda this for that meeting
New PR Triage
<melsumner> I thought we defined deprecated in ARIA spec as something different a while back, FWIW
dmontalvo: aria/#2076
… already approved, we can just merge
pkra: no more reviews needed, it’s just editorial
WPT Open PRs
dmontalvo: wpt/#43046
jcraig: found an interesting bug in Chrome and Firefox where `<img src="#">` fails to render, so I replaced the src with a one-pixel data URI
dmontalvo: wpt/#43043
jcraig: Rahim and I are working on this one
Rahim: this one has an ambiguous definition for what should be returned for a hidden aria-labelledby node reference
jcraig: I’ll review this one
dmontalvo: wpt/#43028
scotto: this needs to be updated to consider parent/child relationship more than HTML enclosure
dmontalvo: wpt/#43013
scotto: similar to previous, I’ll review this one
Rahim: I just finished contextual role WPT tests — should I add this one?
scotto: yes, that’d be great — let’s sync up on that
dmontalvo: wpt/#42784
… needs reviewers
Rahim: I’ll review
dmontalvo: wpt/#42769
… this one is still WIP
dmontalvo: wpt/#42760
scotto: I just committed an update
dmontalvo: wpt/#42551
jcraig: this is one of spectranaut’s manual tests
dmontalvo: wpt/#41643
jcraig: ditto
jcraig: spectranaut can follow up if she needs different reviewers
dmontalvo: wpt/#41522
… this one already has reviewers
jcraig: this is a manual one
dmontalvo: wpt/#41463
jcraig: Rahim and I are working on this one, it’s very close
dmontalvo: wpt/#34797
… this is a manual core-aam one, so we can skip
jcraig: I’ve already provided feedback
dmontalvo: wpt/#33680
jcraig: this is still a draft
… it’ll be a manual test also
Deep Dive planning
Ambiguity in AccName LabelledBy section: "[if] current node is not already 'part of' [sic]…traversal" agendabot]
jcraig: BGaraventa and I agree on this one and now I just need to update the test
jcraig: let’s focus on the traversal aspect of this one and save name prohibited on generic as a separate issue
… I’ll take assignment of this one and propose an editorial update to the spec
Deep Dive planning
melsumner: need a deep dive for next week to explore accname as description and value
… BGaraventa I discussed this and would like to present some ideas to the group
