tom: pr around tables. aria rules.

trevor: reviewed word doc for kathy.

trevor: more thought into subjective applicability. started to review pr's

cathierne: pr for daniel

Annual rule review

wilco: rule review... one fix, then ready. one being worked on, one determining if secondary requirement or performace requirement. this will be a topic for tpac. action needs to be taken. Wilco will take. ready since both issues assigned.
... last review... expectation too vague and open-ended.

helen: 2.4.2 is somewhat open-ended. web page does not state needs to have "unique" title or purpose. examples ensued.

wilco and helen discussed...

wilco: action needed. will open an issue. does it need to be unpublished?
... content of page is vague.

trevor: good example of subjectivity

helen: should we go above and beyond normative?

wilco: trying to more clearly define normative. Wilco will take action for expectation

helen: with changes, happy to move forward

TPAC Plans

wilco: discuss agenda. who is not attending?

helen: not attending

Catherine: not attending

<Wilco> https://www.w3.org/WAI/GL/task-forces/conformance-testing/wiki/TPAC_2023

Wilco - IRC will be going

Deprecating 4.1.1 rules

<Wilco> https://www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG21/Understanding/parsing.html

wilco - 4.1.1 will be removed from WCAG 2.2. 2.0 and 2.1, note has been added.

<Wilco> https://www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG20/errata/

Wilco - we need to deprecate

wilco - always satisfied with html. so no need to test against it anymore.

<trevor> +1

<kathy> +1

vote to deprecating...

+1

tom - need to be careful doesn't apply to other rules

<thbrunet> +1

<Wilco> +1

helen - anything causing issues will be found by other tests

<Helen> +1

kathy - 2.2 hasn't been released yet but 4.1.1 notes are normative??

wilco - notes are not normative. 2.1 will be republished with notes. explanation of normative requirement.

<Wilco> proposed RESOLUTION: Deprecate 4.1.1 rules as soon as WCAG 2.1 is republished

RESOLUTION: Deprecate 4.1.1 rules as soon as WCAG 2.1 is republished

wilco - deprecate after 2.1 republished

<dmontalvo> +1

Deprecate Heading has non-empty accessible name

Subjective exceptions in the applicability

<trevor> https://github.com/w3c/wcag-act/pull/539

trevor - two comments last week, example of heading. if make a definition and give features, does that satisfy the definition?

trevor - makes definition not exact enough.

tom - doesn't necessarily agree. what happens if you meet the criteria but not the definition?

trevor - possible to specify negatives and say the test target does not have these things

tom - need to tighten up the definitions

trevor - yes, tighten up. should we have standardized format for the definitions? readable, understandable, bullet-proof

wilco - worried about getting too inflexible

tom - bringing objectivity to something inherantly subjective

tom - easier to supply past/fail examples?

trevor - there will always be more examples

tom - will be helpful to call... to be continued...
