New Issue Triage
spectranaut_: #464
… already a PR I’ve added on in core-aam for computedrole
… #168
… there are two view options for the role information: list and table. Can we remove the table view?
… who might use that?
jamesn: maybe implementers
spectranaut_: #53
pkra: I think this can be closed already
… it’s an HTML-ARIA question and scotto already started a PR for it
spectranaut_: #1898
… #1893
… similar issue with #1892
… I just updated all non-normative statements for “MAY” — please everyone be careful not to use “may” in a non-normative statements, should use “might” or other language instead
jamesn: anyone know how to create a GitHub action to help enforce this?
jcraig: might be a ReSpec change?
spectranaut_: but re: those two specific issues, they’re low-hanging fruit
arigilmore: I‘d like to help with those
Andrea: and I’ll look into the GitHub action issue
New PR Triage
spectranaut_: #1900
… added scotto and Adam_Page to review
spectranaut_: #1896
… from annevk, there are already reviewers assigned
… it’s an editorial change that lists expected values for attributes and also tries to add some distinction between the value of the value you can see in IDL and the value that it means internally
… #1894
F2F Planning
spectranaut_: if there’s anything you’d like to discuss, please tag the issue in GitHub with “F2FCandidate”
jamesn: everyone who plans to attend in person, be sure to fill out the survey we sent out
<spectranaut_> survey for f2f: https://
Role parity: consider "native-" or "host-" role prefix for host language elements (including audio/video, but not limited to media) where custom ARIA implementations cannot (yet) match the native implementation's accessibility.
spectranaut_: jcraig, can you catch us up?
jcraig: this is tied to HTML-AAM
… it’s also tied to an issue I filed yesterday against that spec
… which is that we need computedrole mappings
… e.g. <video>
… either we prefix these with something reserved like “native” or “host”
… or host language like “html-”
… but the original reason for this was role parity for WPT testing
… so if we can at least have Chromium, Gecko, and WebKit all agree on returned computed role for elements like video, audio, etc. that don’t already have parity
scotto: no strong opinions on what the native roles need to be, but agree that we need the consistency across platforms
jamesn: related issue html-aam #464
jcraig: any WPT reviewers present?
spectranaut_: I am
jcraig: I need reviews to keep moving on this
spectranaut_: I can review
jcraig: hoping to get a bunch of tests in before F2F
jcraig: accname tests will be in their own top-level folder
… but wasn’t sure how to break it down: rule order, many edge cases or one big monolithic?
… I prefer smaller files that test one thing or a small group of related things
spectranaut_: any other topics?
jcraig: I’m trying to prepare some slides for F2F to introduce WPT tests
… maybe we could have time to set up people’s machines to write and run tests locally
… I’ve been able to get it running in Webkit and should be able to get Chrome as well
… the nice thing is you don’t need to run them *all* locally, just test one locally and then the pipeline will run the rest automatically
spectranaut_: sounds good
jamesn: please put a note in the F2F agenda issue in terms of timing, time needed, etc.
jcraig: will do
jamesn: that goes for everyone, to make sure we put topics at times that will be friendly for people in other time zones
spectranaut_: that’s a wrap
