Lionel_Wolberger: Asking who might be at CSUN?
Zero Project report, focus on Symbols
Lionel_Wolberger: I was at zero prject
… presented AI
… we're getting risk around issues around disabled people and AI inclusion
… also report to RQTF
… like from bitcom from Germany
… spend some time with David Bain?
… global symbols is goning to help us and been along with us
… Microsoft demonstrated a symbol mark up on edge, new to me
… this is doing mark up,
Lionel: The Microsoft immersive Reader will decorate pages in the Microsoft Edge browser, with symbols
matatk: knew Microsoft was doing something on symbols, someone from coga knew more about this
… I think we should ask around in Coga
janina: I will confirm with Lisa
Lionel_Wolberger: acknowledge that happy to hear COGA people know about it
… @@1, this may give them a door
Lionel: The Immersive Reader has many features that help people with Cognitive and Learning Disabilities
matatk: all the main browsers had something called a reader mode, or a reader view
… they do work pretty well and good for removing distractions
… maybe something we should think about
Reader Mode
matatk: Surprising that we haven't discussed this in the past
… Reader Mode (or Reader View), is based on guesswork and not markup
Lionel_Wolberger: It approximates the elimination of distractions
janina: We can leverage this type of mode. Authoring will never fully markup in this way, but maybe having forms marked up in this mode
… would allow the form to be served up in digestible chunks
updates on A11y4Children
janina: no news from me
… waiting fro an ontology from them
… we can look at it and see what value we can take from that
Gap Analysis
matatk: study from different format, like micro format
… I haven't made any progress at the moment
Lionel_Wolberger: we can decide which one were tracking first?
<matatk> Current page on this: https://
matatk: there is wiki page on our repo
… now we want to add to this micro formats
… I have done some research, that approach is also working ro other W3C groups
… we need harmonize this page , to make sure that we are happy with different technology
Lionel_Wolberger: there is a separate page about micro formats
matatk: there is a note as mentioned as micro formats, that's a link to a different domain
Lionel_Wolberger: how will we capture theses decisions? git or wiki
… I think we'd better to use git
matatk: I would like suggest to start this work in Wiki, and we can always roll back changes if we decide
… the question is this is a list of different type of individual attributes that are going to considerate
… some example for micro formats like dpub
… media queries are going to @@
… I guess we can skip a lot of those matrix
janina: we should update whatever we do
matatk: We dont have to tackle the entire spec, we can compare one at a time. E.g., we can assess distractions to media queries
… "skip a lot of those in the matrix" -- we don't have to populate every Adapt markup with every alternative
janina: maybe we can add it to our homepage
<janina> https://
janina: we should decide do we want it on our homepage
matatk: the problem is we hadn't looked at micro format yet
Lionel_Wolberger: we can follow up this topic next week
… should we think about symbols?
matatk: I think it's OK with symbol
Registries
janina: The Symbol Registry started in W3C-WAI, but now it's time to bring it into APA
… I propose that it is to be owned by Adapt
… need follow-up conversations with the Bliss People and the Open Symbols People
… pull the Open Symbols people into meetings with BCI
… nextL how to better manage i18n on the concept of indexing
… internationalizing and localizing the label for each indexed item
… once we add this i18n does it change the symbols referenced at all?
… This is a question that we need answered
