<jamesn> agendabot, get agenda

<agendabot> jamesn, sorry, I don't understand "get agenda". Try "agendabot, help".

<jamesn> agendabot, find agenda

<agendabot> jamesn, OK. This may take a minute...

<agendabot> clear agenda

1.2 Status

CR is delayed because horizontal reviews have not returned yet - they have up to 3 months to reply.

jamesn: we should start the FPWD of 1.3 as soon as possible

<jamesn> https://github.com/search?l=&q=is%3Aopen+is%3Aissue+repo%3Aw3c%2Faria+created%3A%3E%3D2020-11-19+repo%3Aw3c%2Faria+repo%3Aw3c%2Faccname+repo%3Aw3c%2Fcore-aam&type=Issues

jamesn: 9 new issues
... 1365 is coming from internationalization review
... add to 1.3 milestone
... 1364 - what if activedescendant points to invisible node - 1.3 milestone

Matt_King: we should check the section with the list of things related to focus - we may have addressed that already

bryan: I can look at that one

melanie: I'll take the internationalization one

jamesn: 1363 - 2D or 3D on a canvas - need to expose a position as a semantic

sina: I'm happy to continue conversation on this issue - I have a lot of questions

jamesn: ok to close this one in favor of 432

sina: yes, ok

jamesn: 1361 - dynamic headings
... not sure if browsers will go for this

sina: is it possible that they might? this comes up every single week

Matt_King: it is possible to solve in a framework

jamesn: only if the page is using a common framework, and not pulling in anything from somewhere else
... 1360

sina: need to ask how this is not covered by live=assertive/polite onload?

jamesn: 1358 role option with role graphics-object - this is just a question

joanie: let's ask Amelia for help

jamesn: accname #95 - assigning to Bryan - it's just a question
... 1355 what is a multi-selectable tablist? it used to be accordion implementation, we should just deprecate multi-select on tablist

Matt_King: that will affect some language in tab that's related to multi-select on tablist

jamesn: when we deprecate it, we can probably change the wording so that it's not mentioned

Matt_King: Bryan, are you ok with deprecating multiselect on tablist?

bryan: yes, ok with it. haven't seen this in the wild
... have only seen it in the past, where the user could select multiple tabs to delete them

jamesn: that may be a valid use case - will add to 1.3 milestone - I'll look into it
... no deep dive meeting next week. Proposal for the Braille input topic Dec 17.
... Assuming Apple folks can make it, we will do deep dive on 17th

Updates on issues 1150 (Sarah), 1033 (Isabel), 1161 (Carolyn)

https://github.com/w3c/aria/pull/1213

Listbox and tree: clarify requirements for selected and checked<https://github.com/w3c/aria/pull/1340>

jamesn: still has open questions

Matt_King: I just pushed a couple of minutes ago - will copy into chat

<Matt_King> revised language: Authors MAY indicate selection for option elements using either aria-selected or aria-checked. Some user interfaces indicate selection with aria-selected in single-select list boxes and with aria-checked in multi-select list boxes. Authors SHOULD NOT specify both aria-selected and aria-checked on option elements contained by the same listbox. However, authors MAY use both...

<Matt_King> ...in the extremely rare circumstances where all the following conditions are met:

carmacleod: I like this a lot better than making aria-checked "recommended" in multi-select list boxes

sina: I want to sit with the language a bit - want to make sure that both are still allowed on multi-select

Add a conditional on when aria-controls is needed<https://github.com/w3c/aria/pull/1335>

Outstanding PR triage<https://github.com/w3c/aria/pulls?q=is%3Apr+is%3Aopen>
