<LisaSeemanKest_> topic : email on user testing

<LisaSeemanKest_> https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-personalization-tf/2019Jul/0016.html

have an offer to do user testing in first week of Sept. Lisa wrote a proposal about what should be tested

going to make a test page in German and Swedish to test with users with cognitive impairments

Lisa: test with no symbols, page with automatic generated symbols, page with bliss symbols, page to translate to user preferred symbols
... get feedback on each of the pages
... all has been specified in the email. Is anything missing?

<LisaSeemanKest_> https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-personalization-tf/2019Jul/0016.html

<LisaSeemanKest_> how is it messured

Sharon: who decides how this is measured?

Lisa: we will need to ask the folks performing the test. Want to measure the comprehension at the end. Perhaps a mood bar (smiley’s, etc to select from); timing - how many times do they have to go back and repeat tasks, etc.

Sharon: okay, so we will find out from the researchers;

Lisa: efficiency, effectiveness, and satisfaction are that typical measures - may have to tweak this for this group of users to make sure they understand
... Another question is what makes a valid sample? This is a very small sample. That came up as an issue on the COGA list. But we don’t have any control over the size.

closing item values for the first 3 attributes

Becky: haven’t read email yet (just back from vacation) - will comment on list if necessary

Lisa: two of the researchers will join the call next week so we can ask questions then

<LisaSeemanKest_> https://raw.githack.com/w3c/personalization-semantics/rewrite-prototype/content/index.html#values

Lisa: looking at the items that are not defined by autocomplete (specified in last column)
... chat occurs in two places but will leave that one for now
... comment as a destination - submit a comment on current item; as purpose is for a form comment field
... do we need to change the name?

Becky: feedback or add-comment?

Lisa: feedback will crop up somewhere else,

Becky: value for destination is one I would change

<LisaSeemanKest_> open-commnets

Lisa: open-comments? does that work
... I’m not opposed to feedback - just worried about conflict with feedback in the help module
... feedback is the system telling you what is going on in the help module - for example, your email has been sent

Becky: could that be confirmation? will it fit all use cases?

Lisa: for comment destination it could be respond?
... response, reaction, comment, report, comeback - are possibilities
... we could change it to feedback for now?
... feedback in help module is to let people know if something is being done successfully or not; error messages could be feedback, confirmation on email; it helps prevent people from pressing a button more than once since they don’t know if the action actually happened; need to tell people what is going on
... maybe status is a better term for that use case?

becky: what about discussion for the comment destination?

<LisaSeemanKest_> +1

Sharon: is there a situation where someone left a comment that is not part of a discussion? example, I hated this hotel - is that part of a discussion?

becky: what if it is a one-way discussion?

Sharon: what if user gives feedback directly to an author, product owner, etc that doesn’t go to a discussion area?

<LisaSeemanKest_> desitation value changed to discussion

<LisaSeemanKest_> +1

Lisa: discussion is not ideal due to Sharon’s comment above - giving direct feedback isn’t a discussion

+1

still has issues but I think it is better than using comment for destination

Lisa: another option is remarks

Sharon: I’m okay if it refers to adding a comment to a discussion board

Lisa: does contact work?
... options - feedback, discussion, remarks

Sharon: what about add-comment, leave-comment?
... I would prefer feedback or give-feedback

Lisa: perhaps we can change the help feedback to status?

Sharon: how is feedback used for help? data-status=“error” or ="confirmation"

Lisa: no - that could be aria
... What is the issue changing data-feedback to data-status? or we could change it to take a value (like Sharon) proposed data-status=“some-value”

becky: I think we are proposing changing comment destination to feedback and change help from feedback to status

<LisaSeemanKest_> proposal: data-destination to feedback and in modul two cahge feedback to stats

RESOLUTION: changing comment destination to feedback and change help from feedback to status

RESOLUTION: changing comment destination to feedback and change help from feedback to status

<LisaSeemanKest_> destination help A help function that includes support or instructions.4

<LisaSeemanKest_> action help Opens a help function. (Implied simplification= "critical".)

Lisa: next issue is help as a destination (help link) and action on a button to open up help - these are very similar
... one is meant to be a function and the other is support
... destination should be a link to a destination for instructions or specific help; perhaps make one support and another help

What is a help function?

Lisa: might be context sensitive help but can’t remember the full discussion

Sharon: IBM help is usually a destination to a knowledge center;

Lisa: do we want help desintation vs. a popup or inpage instruction

Sharon: we probably need both - the ? is usually in page and is a function

Lisa: maybe change the destination to support rather than help; and the action remains as help

<LisaSeemanKest_> destination support goes to support or instructions.

<LisaSeemanKest_> action help Opens in page help. (Implied simplification= "critical".)

Lisa: make the action one more specific - opens-in-page-help; difference is that it doesn’t take the user to a new destination
... action is in-page help; destination refers to a new page

<LisaSeemanKest_> RESOLVE: make the action definition for help more specific - opens-in-page-help; difference is that it doesn’t take the user to a new destination. and the destitation is chaged to support with defintion that it goes to support or instructions

<LisaSeemanKest_> destination left Changes the location of the selected item(s) to the left.

<LisaSeemanKest_> action left Moves a selected item to the left into another column or list.

RESOLUTION: make the action definition for help more specific - opens-in-page-help; difference is that it doesn’t take the user to a new destination. and the destitation is chaged to support with defintion that it goes to support or instructions
