Introductions of curt

JN: Curt is from Oracle

SI: Do you miss James

JN: No one misses me
... Let's move on

TPAC

<jamesn> https://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/wiki/Meetings/TPAC_2018

JN: not much of an update, we have a meeting page
... We will be meeting and registration is now open
... Earlier bird rate ends on July 31st
... You should have gotten registration information this morning

<MichaelC> https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/35125/TPAC2018/

MC: I will put link the log and meeting page

JN: Please send suggested agenda items

MC: People can add information, rather than edit the page

Publication Updates

JN: MC please update us on publications

MC: We have 3 documents in process, waiting for director response, hopefully tomorrow

Charter Updates

JN: No news on charter updates

MC: JB is in the final process of updating the charters, hopfully within the next week

<mck> /me coming

Summer Schedule (No meeting July 5)

JN: We will not be meeting on July 5th, too many people out
... We should be meeting most of the rest of the summer
... Joanie or I will be able to chair

Triage of recent issues

JN: We would like to work through the issues as they come in

<jamesn> https://github.com/w3c/aria/issues?utf8=✓&q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+created%3A%3E2018-05-15

JN: We would like to assign them to a release

JN Issue #780, we talked about it last week

JNL Joanie also needs to be here

JN: Is this a 1.2 or later

MK: What is the criteria

JN: We also want to fix bugs, but not new features
... This seems to be a bug

MK: I think it is a 1.2 issue

JN: I agree on 1.2 issue
... Done
... Removing non-normative content out of AAM

MK: It is mostly editorial, but it is a big issue and needs alot of editorial review
... it is a nice to do, but wait until everything else is done

JN: This may need to move into a separate note

MK: I don't like that idea, to many places for people to look for stuff
... I would propose leaving it for now

JN: It is not clear where the content should go

<jamesn> https://github.com/w3c/core-aam/issues/14

JN: Should we have a separate issue on core AAM
... Maybe create an explainer document
... Joanie wants to simplify Core AAM

MK: I agree with Joanie

JN: We should figure this out for 1.2
... Any objections for 1.2?
... 1.3 is way out there

MK: The normative content is most important

JN: Some of the content is normative, we need to move the tests to the right place
... Joanie only wants the normative mapping content in the document
... most of this work is on Joanie, so if she wants to do it
... Is that oK?
... Issue 778
... There is already a 1.2 milestone on this
... I think this is right

MK: I agree

JN: Issue 777
... These are based on the IDL information

MK: This has to be 1.2, to get the IDL stuff right

JN: We need to include case sensitivity, but browser will support
... Issue 776
... Aria controls is required on combobox

https://github.com/w3c/aria/issues/776

MK: Anyone who parsing its not going to like it because it is conditional
... We should have a row for conditional required properties

JN: Sounds like you would like to take this on

MK: I could make a pull request

JN: I would be happy to have a pull request and then we could discuss
... Any other counter proposals

Bryan: I need more information

MK: Combobox has a requirement for aria-controls, but it is suppose to be on the textbox, so the spec is conflicting

Bryan: That seems reasonable

JN: Can you do a pull request?

MK: I assigned it to myself

JN: Thank you Matt

Issue 773

https://github.com/w3c/aria/issues/773

JN: This is editorial, does anyone disagree?
... reads the issue

JN This would change the definition of tri-state

JN: I believe this is editorial since no tests change

BG: Fine with me

JN: Any objecttions
... I will make the change
... Issue 771

https://github.com/w3c/aria/issues/771

JN: It is not a 1.2 issue

BG: This sounds complicated

JN: I thik this is more 1.4 or 2.0 issue

BG: That makes sense to me

JN: Any other input on milestone?
... MC does this sound like an 2.0 issue?

MC: Yes

JN: Issue 767

https://github.com/w3c/aria/issues/767

JN: Let's leave this to be an non-aria solution, this needs more discussion on what to do with tis

BG: It sounds good to me

JN: Issue 765

https://github.com/w3c/aria/issues/765

BG: We are talking about a user agent translating information to braille

JN: I don't know abut how this work, we need Joanie

<mck> /me can you unmute me?

JN: Is is a 1.2 issue?

BG: No
... Who wants to work on it?
... I understand the desire for it

JN: I think it is a 2.0 issue, it can always be brought back

<mck> /me I think I am muted

BG: There is software out there that could do this

<MichaelC> https://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/roadmap

MC: I just want to remind people about the raodmap
... 1.2 is roles for HTML parity
... 1.3 is attribute parity
... So this makes it post 1.3

JN: Issue 762

https://github.com/w3c/aria/issues/762

<mck> James/Michael ... can you unmute my line?

JN: This will tell you about actions, and then you can use the rotar to get to the actions
... I think this is important, but does not fit into 1.2

BG: Sounds useful to me

JN: It doesn't fit into 1.3 either

MK: I asked a question, this is basically a touch or screen reader interface, how would keyboard users get to these actions?
... Whether we need ARIA to do this, or can we use what we already have

JN: You can use delete key to delete, or use of context menus

MK: So the question becomes a touch interface issue, if a swipe left deletes, the screen reader will also have a way to do a swipe left emulator
... This seems more like AOM

JN: I think your right

MK: in AOM there are 8 actions that are currently supported, this might be another action or be able to use the 8 that are already there
... Remember that aria-haspopup is now tokenized and combine with AOM

JN: Can you put that explanation in the issue

MK: I can do that

JN: I will not put a milestone on it now

MK: May want to label for may not be aria issue

JN: I will discuss that with Joanie when she gets back
... Thank you everyone
... Any other issues?

BG: Can you tell me what the dates are for TPAC
... I am hoping to come
