George Doing Minutes
Requirements to Silver is first agenda item.
We are at the conceptual stage, but Silver is in the design phase.
from the publishingperspective. We should give requirements to Silver
Matt, we need to introduce ourselves, but it is difficult at this time to give specific requirements.
Sets of pages is a big issue, but they are aware of.
The accessibility needs to be applied to a web publication as a whole.
Publications as APPs or as web pages.
Perhaps we establish an open dialogue.. What do they need from us.
George flag what we expect to be problems: sets of pages, navigation, APPs orweb pages, packaged publications.
Avneesh, packaged publications need to be included in Silver.
Conformance reporting must be strong in PWG.
We need to flag strong conformance.
Provide high level and then start the open discussion.
What is the extent of publication accessibility. We don't want to solve other document problems.
If there is a way to come up with a scope statement, that would be good.
George, do we flag about different document types inside the publication?
IF the WP, it should be accessible in its entiriey.
If we are going to say that the WP is accessible, everything in it must be accessible.
iframes are regions that may be outside the control of the publication.
George, there must be a way to flag external resources that are not accessible.
Matt, accessibilitySummary must alert to known problems.
Jason, difficult to make claims about external resources. If you incorporate and package it up, then they are part of your content and would fall under accessibility guidelines.
media overlays, APA asked for why cannot TTML and WebVT is not sufficient.
For Silver to be completed the technologies would need to be there. This is the domain of APA to get standards updated.
Jason, improvements to TTML is squaarely an APA domain item.
Conformance is the domain of AG.
Publishing is not the only area where the confformance is an issue.
Silver is the right place where there are blends of technologies that come together.
Next Steps
George, we will have a wiki page for high level discussions.
We want to get into discussions more.
We need to set up with Silver and APA at TPAC.
I will try to arrange a three way meeting at TPAC.
Audio books; it is great that audio books is happening in the WP.
George is collecting a list of contacts in the audio book industry that are also part of W3C.
I envision audio people having difficulty participating in W3C.
audio publishers. We will try to form a small group to represent
next call on November 1.
