<Lisa_Seeman> Chair:Lisa_Seeman

<Lisa_Seeman> agenda: this

<Lisa_Seeman> scribe: Mike_Pluke

<Lisa_Seeman> john questions

<Lisa_Seeman> gppi

Agree that the COGA preferences ahould be compatible with (and not dependent on) GPII

<Lisa_Seeman> proposed new text: That means the end use could use an open source symbol set or buy the symbols and use them across different devices or applications.

We agree that we should not prevent people from using proprietary (charged for) symbol sets.

<Lisa_Seeman> That means the end use could use an open source symbol set or buy the symbols and use them across different devices or applications. Symbols could still be proprietary but they would also be interoperable

We may need to clarify the use of the word "interoperable" (the surrounding content may clarify).

"Checking Readability" should be changed to "Check Readability". WCAG describes what is meant by "readability".

<Lisa_Seeman> Minimize the cognitive skills required to use the content when there is an alternative that achieves the same ends

WCAG will require positive alternatives to our wording.- but for now we agree that Lisa's revised wording is better.

Having 0 as a reserved digit for a human operator is relevant within VoiceXML

<Lisa_Seeman> next item

<Tony_Doran> Very sorry need to drop off for 5 minutes

<Lisa_Seeman> https://www.w3.org/WAI/PF/cognitive-a11y-tf/wiki/Main_Page#Current_schedules

Groups affected by us being behind timeline are WCAG and ARIA - hence Lisa's two drafts on ARIA and WCAG

<Lisa_Seeman> Aria for tpac

<Lisa_Seeman> wcag draft end of month

Deadlines: ARIA draft for TPAC, WCAG draft by the end of the month.

Proposal to change timelines to reflect ARIA and WCAG deadlines, with further editors drafts coming after these initial deadlines.

Editor's draft for ARIA by 25th October

Editor's draft for WCAG 1st November

First techniques also 1st November

Some doubt whether "importance" is the appropriate title of ARIA - maybe "frequency"?

James Crage raised serious testability concerns

<Tony_Doran> Apologies I need to drop off.

James Crage use of a better name than aria-destination was discussed (see https://www.w3.org/WAI/PF/cognitive-a11y-tf/wiki/Open_Issues )

Decided to look for a better name but keep the concept for aria-importance

Resolved that we do want to work on testing for personalization

<JohnRochford> From Merriam Webster, Importance synonyms: Synonyms big, consequential, earthshaking, earth-shattering, eventful, historic, major, material, meaningful, momentous, monumental, much, significant, substantial, tectonic, weighty

Recommend to make edge cases to allow for adaptations that are robust to be provided?

<JohnRochford> commonness, frequence, frequentness, prevalence = from Merriam Webster
