getting started on AAM

tzviya: joseph, roadmap?

<clown> rawgit.com/w3c/aria/master/core-aam/core-aam.html

<clown> http://rawgit.com/w3c/aria/master/svg-aam/svg-aam.html#mapping_role_table

clown: there is the core AAM, idea was that it would contain the bulk of the mappings and basis for all other AAMs. SVG AAM does this, constantly has links back to the core

… so since DPUB only has roles, you are going to be following the SVG role mapping table

<clown> rawgit.com/w3c/aria/master/core-aam/core-aam.html#mapping_role_table

… click view as single table, roughly the table you’re gonna create

… leftmost col is dpub role, then MSAA+UIA Express, then MSAA+IAccessible2, then UIA Control, ATK/AT, AXAPI

mgylling: what if we want to inherit all behaviors from super role?

clown: add a URL back to core

… but more convenient for readers to put the stuff in literally

janina: if there are enough of the inherited ones, maybe a dedicated column

<tzviya> I would love to see the "inherited" properties literally pull content from the core spec

tzviya: filling in the information, are you working with the different accessibility platform people to do this?

clown: for UIA talk to cyns, IA2, Alex Surkov [???], ATK/AT is Joanie, AXAPI is jcraig

… alternatively go to source documentation

<clown> https://developer.gnome.org/atk/unstable/AtkObject.html#AtkRole

<clown> https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/Accessibility/AT-APIs/MSAA/Roles

<clown> https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee684009%28v=vs.85%29.aspx

<tzviya> https://github.com/w3c/aria/blob/master/dpub-aam/dpub-aam.html

tzviya: we have a shell document in github to get us started, rich filled out a sample for us

… do you recommend we use that?

<clown> http://rawgit.com/w3c/aria/master/dpub-aam/dpub-aam.html#mapping_role_table

<clown> http://rawgit.com/w3c/aria/master/core-aam/core-aam.html#role-map-directory

… if we could have a sample in github for chapter and toc, would be great

clown: you should send someone to the AAPI meetings, Tuesdays 3PM EDT

outstanding issues on dpub-aria draft

tzviya: nr 43, clarifying context, a recommendation to make some changes that Mat thtought that he had made

… superclass defs had changed

<clown> https://github.com/w3c/aria/issues/43

… on April 24, Matt pushed an update.

matt: suggestion was to use note as superclass of notice, the change is now gone
... we push again to master branch

tzviya: footnotes and endnotes

<clown> https://github.com/w3c/aria/issues/46

… is an issue on who controls the vocabulary… we have discussed this endlessly [in DAISY and IDPF]

…semantically they are the same thing, it comes down to a display issue

matt: suggest leave it open as it may pop up again

<tzviya> https://github.com/w3c/aria/issues/47

tzviya: about required context, we need to add examples

… and whether some of these roles would be brought into core

clown: 1.1 is freezing in August so we can publish by spring

… if you want to put chapter in you will have to be certain it passes the tests

tzviya: we need to avoid terms ending up in limbo, features at risk with no home, would rather keep them in the dpub vocab

janina: all you need to pass is two independent implementations

… it doesnt need to be a browser, could be an ebook reader

tzviya: markus do you agree we should keep the vocab together?

markus: yep

… by 2018 our hopes are that all publishing terms will be in the core

tzviya: we are open to discussion, but will not push this ourselves

additional terms to draft

janina: this was expected, we know the FPWD was not complete

markus: one major question for link types, should the rel attribute be used, or should ARIA start including link substypes again?

tzviya: we need to talk about timing, coordinate with EPUB 3.1

janina: yes lets talk to Rich

markus: EPUB 3.1 is not yet comitted to making the transition from epub:type, its going to be discussed

joint meeting re describeAt with publishers

tzviya: have a few publishers who are committed to come to such a call

… tentatively set for August 6

[ … chatter about baby pictures…]

<clown> finally found the IA2 roles documentation: http://accessibility.linuxfoundation.org/a11yspecs/ia2/docs/html/_accessible_role_8idl.html#ae37ff81431ee3762a5d41a2cb909108d
