changes to audio bridge

Ivan: Zakim bridge will end at the end of June
... MIT has moved to WebEx and VOIP

<ivan> https://www.w3.org/dpub/IG/wiki/WebEx

Ivan: and will not continue to finance Zakim and pushing us to move to WebEx
... I have set up a WebEx account and wiki page
... It can be used in same way as Zakim and can download app
... Can use on iOS and Android, not Linux
... Can request system to dial out to international number
... System for queue control, etc. is not available on WebEx
... We will continue to use IRC and Zakim bots for these things
... We will not use WebEx chat for these things
... Practical difference is that everyone should type in Present+ and name so minute system can track
... We will probably transition at first meeting after F2F (1 Jun)

Bill_Kasdorf: it sounds like we are using the audio aspects of webex, but nothing else?

Ivan: we do not want to exclude anyone

Nick: we can still use the screen sharing

Ivan: Best idea is to put slides on web or send to Ivan in advance

Markus: scribing is still on IRC

Accessibility TF update

Deborah: A11y TF put together detailed spreadsheet of what aspects of WCAG are relevant/not relevant to DPUB
... this helped us understand what aspects of publishing are NOT addressed by existing standards

<dkaplan3> https://github.com/w3c/dpub-accessibility/blob/gh-pages/index.html

Deborah: This is a draft of a note for W3C, mostly an outline at this point
... would love to receive input

http://w3c.github.io/dpub-accessibility/

Deborah: at F2F meeting will sit down with BISG and talk about what these 2 groups can do together
... want to address the possibility of this TF assisting in communications between BISG and W3C
... if we see gaps in publisher knowledge, we can let BISG know
... if BISG sees holes in standards. they can let us know

ivan: With whom would you like to have contact in WAI?

Deborah: good question. Not yet resolved. we need to know if BISG wants this, and then we need to talk to WAI
... We have been in touch w Jeanne Spellman

Bill_K: I think this is what BISG will want to do - 2-way communication liaison

Deborah: we are hopeful that this won't involve too much process. It's good to hear that you think this is aligned with BISG's thinking
... this is an opportunity for W3C reps to speak to content creators and find out how it's going

clapierre: We hope to see concrete next steps come out of the F2F

mgylling: question about the note

<scribe> ...finished survey of techniques and begun work on what's missing. Is the note intended to cover both topics or just one?

<clapierre1> https://docs.google.com/a/benespace.org/spreadsheets/d/125hGDyBfr8fHtN0kRr_yKgXrrEXqFLAHIQhUcoGGLnU/edit#gid=0

deborah: cover both

markus: is there a public space to share what's missing?

deborah: see charles' notes

markus: is it OK to share the document with others who can contribute to it?

deborah: OK
... the spreadsheet is just a brainstorm document and is very broad
... and, it's not vetted, so some of the issues may be covered by specs

tzviya: consider using the wiki to gather comments instead of google sheet - if it works

mgylling: F2F meeting devotes 45 min to a11y. Will all be about collaboration with BISG?

clappierre: yes

<mgylling> scribenick: mgylling

DPUB Aria Update

Tzviya: last time week spoke we did a call or consensus on the dpub role draft. PF prepared for a similar call and a lot of issues came up, primarily around the general extensibility of ARIA.

… this is the first time an extensions of ARIA is proposed, created a lot of discussion within PF and HTML WGs

… we decided that until a decision is made on extensibility, we put the draft work on ice

… Ivan even went to Paris to discuss this topic

… another option is to create a extensions spec to HTML depending on how the ARIA extension rules end up

Ivan: There is tension within the ARIA group on whether the role attribute is bound to AT usage, or can be used more generally for structural information.

… some people are on the restrictive side, and do not want a large number of new values for role

… and they have understandable arguments but on the other hand if we follow that argument to the end it would be too restrictive for our uses

… I have written down a document with option, not yet public

… next step is to go back to PF and make a final decision

… hope that have this done before F2F

Tzviya: publishing the note, published by which group?

Ivan: that would just be a discussion paper on a wiki

<tzviya> mgylling: if we end up doing an extension to HTML, we still need to have a clear mapping to AT

<tzviya> ...so, we would still need to work with ARIA to figure out how to map

<tzviya> ...Further, there was interest in adding some of our terms to ARIA Core

<tzviya> Ivan: this was one of the options that I listed, and we would be in discussion with them

F2F actions

scribenick mgylling

Tzviya: final nag about the F2F.

… call-in information is still missing

Ivan: we can set up a WebEx session

<astearns> ivan: I'd like to dial in for packaging and pagination

Packaging update

Ivan: I talked to the TAG chair about packaging at the AC meeting

… discussion now within community whether packaging is something they want in the first place

… some say that using the manifest is enough

… maybe with service workers involved

… I gave information about EPUB-WEB to Daniel Applequist, and he may also dial in for the discussion

… bottom line for is that we have to collect our use cases and give lots of force to it

Tzviya: is one of our goals of our packaging sesssion then to have an outline for the use case doc?

Ivan: yes, and analyze whether this works for us or does not

STEM survey update

Nick: we had a good discussion on STEM survey results last friday, I am putting all the data into a database with a top end

… the results ultimately can only lead to building a better survey that goes out to more people
