End of Year Telecon Scheduling -- Reminder

js: no more meetings in 2014 after today

next meeting is Wednesday 7 January 2015

back on bi-weekly schedule from there

though not many working days between now and then, will use it to kick off the year

Editor's Report

jc: Events spec on hold until editing task force determines their events structure

then we´ll know what needs to be done with IndieUI Events

can still publish a heartbeat if there´s enough there

for User Context, several features are being incorporated into CSS4

some already in webkit nightly

monochrome and color inversion

also discussed some visual features with them

more recently, in CSS some have expressed support for adding a security model to media queries

or to develop a shared security model between IndieUI and CSS

use case: implementer wants info about caption font preferences

could leak information about user

but useful to some sites, so should have a model to make available on per domain basis

rs: is IndieUI API in webkit nightlys?

jc: a patch exists, but needed more work

staffing changes have stalled further work

Reconsidering Our Timelines

js: is it useful, or anti-useful to publish heartbeat of Events while we sort stuff out?

rs: Events could proceed, user context might want to sit on

jc: there are some significant changes since last WD

js: so let´s do in Jan

<jcraig> Current ED has 1.5 years of updates:

<jcraig> http://rawgit.com/w3c/indie-ui/master/src/indie-ui-events.html

doable?

<jcraig> Substantive, normative changes since the last public working draft

<jcraig> 18-Aug-2013: Enum constants formerly defined in UIScrollRequestEvent, UIValueChangeRequestEvent, and UIFocusRequestEvent have been changed to WebIDL enumeration identifier strings. (ACTION-64)

mc: let´s do CfC to publish on the 7th closes the 14th

<jcraig> 18-Aug-2013: Event initializer dictionaries (UIRequestEventInit, UIFocusRequestEventInit) were missing inheritance declarations in the IDL.

<jcraig> 22-Aug-2013: Feature detection section recommends direct object detection now rather than using DOMImplementation.hasFeature().

then we can publish 22 Jan

<jcraig> 5-Mar-2014: Added continuous events for Manipulation Requests (zoom, pan, move, rotate) as well as for Scroll Requests.

<jcraig> 15-May-2014: New UI Triggers section.

<jcraig> 16-May-2014: New UI Manipulators section (partial).

js: what about user context?

jc: there´s only been one key change since FPWD

mc: what was outcome of TPAC discussion?

jc: resulted in changes to CSS

pointer precision

some pointers have more inherent precision than others

<jcraig> action-91?

<trackbot> action-91 -- James Craig to Add additional keys from CSS4 Media Queries: light-level, hover, pointer, etc. http://dev.w3.org/csswg/mediaqueries-4/#pointer -- due 2014-09-24 -- OPEN

<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/WAI/IndieUI/track/actions/91

some input devices have natural tremor that has to be accounted for

which overlaps with hand tremor etc.

<jcraig> action-93?

<trackbot> action-93 -- James Craig to Consider transparency reduction preference -- due 2014-10-01 -- OPEN

<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/WAI/IndieUI/track/actions/93

some other stuff from TPAC might be stuff we could publish in Spring

<jcraig> action-94?

<trackbot> action-94 -- James Craig to Consider increased contrast setting in addition to user colors -- due 2014-10-01 -- OPEN

<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/WAI/IndieUI/track/actions/94

mc: for events heartbeat, should we add to intro / status about work with WebApps?

<scribe> ACTION: cooper to draft frontmatter for webapps relationship for indieui events [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2014/12/17-indie-ui-minutes.html#action01]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-96 - Draft frontmatter for webapps relationship for indieui events [on Michael Cooper - due 2014-12-24].

Schema

<richardschwerdtfeger> http://www.w3.org/wiki/WebSchemas/Accessibility#accessibilityFeature_in_detail

rs: have actio to create edits for user context spec for schema.org

<richardschwerdtfeger> http://www.w3.org/wiki/WebSchemas/Accessibility

these are resource metadata

<richardschwerdtfeger> https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pb92piOlud5sXQadXYnbmtp9LCut26gv8ku-qqZTwec/edit#gid=0

Other Business
