Action Items due today

there are none.

Decisions this week

<paulc> CfC: Request transition of HTML5 to Candidate Recommendation

<paulc> Decision: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-admin/2014Jul/0042.html

Nothing in the chairs opinion to block it going forward.

Immediately after taking the decision we asked for a transition meeting the director or his agent. This is scheduled on Monday.

plh: The meeting will be with the Director.

paulc: There is one section that we are not going to block on, but it is a little weak. Dependencies on media types.

plh: yes this is not a blocker for CR.
... robin is back in the loop and will make progress on getting it stronger.

New Calls this week

<paulc> CfC: publish "srcset attribute" extension spec as a WG Note closes closes Tue Jul 29

http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-admin/2014Jul/0039.html

<paulc> CfC: Request transition of Canvas 2D Context to Candidate Recommendation closes Wed Jul 30

http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-admin/2014Jul/0041.html

paulc: Have not noticed anything on the web site about the new picture element note.

plh: I am not aware of this yet.

Other Publications

<paulc> Canvas2D Level 2 heartbeat

Status: Publication is pending.

Editors do not require WG approval for heartbeats. I was talking to Mike Smith about this one earlier in the week. It might be published today.

<paulc> Longdesc CR

http://www.w3.org/2014/07/17-html-a11y-minutes.html#item02

Status: Awaiting decision about A11Y TF CfC

janina: Nothing more to add except that we are treating the comment we have received as if it *could* be a formal objection and being thorough.

<paulc> Objection to TF CfC for longdesc: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-a11y/2014Jun/0115.html

<paulc> Text alternatives WG Note

http://www.w3.org/2014/07/17-html-a11y-minutes.html#item04

Approved but needs a little update to the status section prior to publication.

<paulc> See last week's minutes: http://www.w3.org/2014/07/17-html-a11y-minutes.html#item04

<plh> http://www.w3.org/TR/2014/NOTE-html-picture-element-20140722/

A little delay because of change of staff contact and publication moratorium.

<paulc> <picture> extensions spec WG Note

http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-admin/2014Jul/0011.html

plh: It was published on the 22nd.

paulc: the CfC for the canvas CR will close in the middle of the moratorium. Does it make sense to publish that CR AND the level 2 note heartbeat at the same time?

plh: yes. That makes sense.

paulc: Might be more newsworthy.

Any other business

janina: question about the new canvas task force. MarkS had been acting as facilitator.
... this group is nominally set to meet next Monday. Is there someone new? Should I be filling in?

paulc: First, MarkS did an excellent job. Set a high bar.
... the task force discussed a facilitator and gave us a name. That person declined.
... the chairs are on the hook to go back to the task force and ask the members whether someone will volunteer.
... I will send something before monday if you want to volunteer before Monday janina.

plh: Mike has been looking into taking over for MarkS as the contact.
... it is not clear that we need to do a lot more, so there might not be too much work for the new contact.

paulc: plan 2014 says we would take the post-5.0 specs to last call this fall. Are you saying there is enough in the document today to go to last call?

plh: I am not sure, but implementations are way behind so there is not a lot of pressure to go fast.

janina: The old group had some nice momentum going and they want to keep that.

paulc: Janina please contact Mike about the agenda for Monday. 6 PM US Eastern Time.
