ACTION items due by Thursday, January 9

ACTION-229?

<trackbot> ACTION-229 -- Paul Cotton to Check the status of the authoring spec -- due 2013-12-19 -- OPEN

<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/html/wg/tracker/actions/229

Status: See discussion at: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html/2014Jan/0011.html

<paulc> http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html/2014Jan/0011.html

close action-229

<trackbot> Closed action-229.

paulc: robin implemented in 5.1; stevef started a thread; eventually we wanted it implemented in 5.0
... the only remaining question is whether (and when) it will be done in 5.0

plh: this won't be top of Robin's list for the near term

paulc: that's fine; action is still done

Upcoming Publications

a) Transition Request: Candidate Recommendation of HTML Media Source Extensions (MSE) https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/chairs/2013OctDec/0304.html [Member-only link] Status: Director's decision and publication is pending.

plh: it is expected to be published today

mikeSmith: it will be out shortly after this call

b) Publishing Ruby spec as a WG Note http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html/2014Jan/0024.html Status: Awaiting plan from Editors.

<paulc> http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html/2014Jan/0028.html

paulc: Robin is working on a larger change to 5.0, and will fold in Ruby at that time; once complete we will do a CfC to publish Ruby as a note
... this work was originally published as a separate note (under the CC-BY license), and now has been folded into 5.1. The existing draft needs to be published as a Note with a note indicating that it has been folded into the HTML5 spec.

c) WG Decision on Polyglot Note vs Recommendation Track http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-admin/2013Dec/0025.html Status: Editors are preparing a revised Last Call WD. ETA Thu Jan 16 with publication of LC in Feb.

Eliot: we are on schedule

e) A11Y TF Call for Consensus: longdesc stand-alone spec http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-a11y/2013Dec/0077.html Status: The A11Y TF CfC closed on Dec 31.

paulc: the TF decided on a stand-alone spec; they plan to skip CR based on existing interoperability status
... this is an example of an extension spec that is heading directly to Recommendation

d) Canvas 2D revised Candidate Recommendation or Last Call See: Minutes: Canvas Accessibility Sub Group Teleconference, 6 January 2014 http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-a11y/2014Jan/0006.html Status: Sub-Group is targeting later in January for completion of review of outstanding CR bugs.

Paulc: the plan is to return to LC; given wide interoperability status (except for focus ring) skipping CR may be a possibility
... if we did a minimum 3 week LC, we could go into CR (or PR) in March

plh: I did some tests for focus ring

paulc: can you send me a link?

plh: I'll put the link in the minutes

paulc: the chairs are discussing heartbeats...

3. Outstanding HTML5 CR bugs http://tinyurl.com/le59ctq

<plh> --> http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-a11y/2013Dec/0011.html systemfocusring tests

topic Outstanding HTML5 CR bugs

paulc: the list was 11 an hour ago, now is down to 10; it was ~480 when we established the new editorial team
... working with the various editors on these (mentions a list of actions and bug numbers)

action-234?

<trackbot> action-234 -- Steve Faulkner to Resolve bug 21579 and will provide spec text https://www.w3.org/bugs/public/show_bug.cgi?id=21579 -- due 2013-11-21 -- OPEN

<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/html/wg/tracker/actions/234

action-235?

<trackbot> action-235 -- Edward O'Connor to Resolve 19728 https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=19728 -- due 2013-11-21 -- OPEN

<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/html/wg/tracker/actions/235

action-236?

<trackbot> action-236 -- Erika Doyle Navara to Resolve bug https://www.w3.org/bugs/public/show_bug.cgi?id=23208 as discussed -- due 2013-11-21 -- CLOSED

<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/html/wg/tracker/actions/236

paulc: action-236 is done, 234 and 235 are ongoing

d) Other A11Y -related CR bugs http://www.w3.org/2013/12/12-html-a11y-minutes.html#item08 Status: A11Y TF and PF WG are working on several CR bugs.

paulc: I believe that every one of the CR bugs have somebody assigned; hopefully the number will be at or close to zero by the end of the month

topic Other Business

action-237?

<trackbot> action-237 -- Robin Berjon to Give us a revised overview of testing document - in 4 weeks -- due 2013-12-16 -- CLOSED

<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/html/wg/tracker/actions/237

<paulc> http://www.w3.org/html/wg/tests-cr-exit/

paulc: Robin sent out an email; don't believe there were any responses
... next action would be for the chairs to issue a CfC
... I put this on the agenda to get people to look at it
... there have been major editorial changes

janina: there is an annual conference on A11y in March; it helps as a deadline for work
... out goal is to publish longdesc no later than March 18th (the conference starts on the 19th)

paulc: on the "alt" material, are there particular CR bugs related to that?

janina: there is at least one bug, possibly a few more

paulc: 21579 is possibly one

<paulc> Alt CR bugs; https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=21579

paulc: it would be great to also include a republished Canvas draft by that deadline (as well as HTML5 to zero bugs)

<Zakim> MikeSmith, you wanted to discuss HTML WG f2f meeting plans for this Spring

MikeSmith: we had some discussion (including at TPAC) to have another F2F; last year was hosted by eBay in San Jose
... I've been helping making plans for this spring; the best time and place would be April 9-10 in the Silicon Valley area (depending on host)
... this date is based on collocating the week after the W3C TAG and related meetings.

Paulc: the challenge is picking the host that can meet that date; I assume you (Mike) are reaching out...

MikeSmith: PLH and I are working on this (as well as other meetings)

paulc: questions?

daniel: we have a standing offer to host, will need to check that specific date

plh: we are looking to organize a workshop (open to the public) on the monday and tuesday before this meeting

daniel: it has been 16 years since we have had such a workshop...

plh: we should look at how we did based on what was said in that meeting

paulc: other comments?

daniel: I'll double check what we can host

paulc: other business?

topic Scribe for next meeting

paulc: perhaps Kris could scribe

plh: I'll send out the minutes for the last meeting by the top of the hour

paulc: adjourned
