<janina> Meeting: HTML-A11Y Task Force Teleconference

<janina> scribe: David

Identify Scribe http://www.w3.org/WAI/PF/HTML/wiki/index.php?title=Scribe_List

Longdesc Extension Update http://dvcs.w3.org/hg/html-proposals/raw-file/b63325998cc1/longdesc1/longdesc.html

Janina: Test status of longdesc ext

we had call for consensus, got feedback pro and con, called for consensus for summary of positions, one email, said my position not correctly reflected...

then holidays

<Stevef> http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-a11y/2012Dec/0088.html

js: need to do something with that

sf: i was editing the document

js: tweak the changes james asked for, and ready for publication

sf: i think an acknowledgement to james, and we can move forward... it was just a clarification to one point
... counter proposals would be separate

js: do we need to change anything on our summary...

<scribe> ACTION: Steve to resend email call for consensus on resolutions ... email about longdesc objections... updating it with James... [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2013/01/10-html-a11y-minutes.html#action01]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-152 - Resend email call for consensus on resolutions ... email about longdesc objections... updating it with James... [on Steve Faulkner - due 2013-01-17].

Status of "alt" text in HTML (specification and usage in the document)

js: trying to get wcag and html in agreement

<Stevef> http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-admin/2013Jan/0007.html

sf: resigned tracker items... proposals to get discussions re captcha, absence of webcam example in spec. I have taken an action item... I'm waiting for discussion between Robin and Janina to take place, sooner the better

js: easiest path is to fix bad advice

dm: are choices to remove or fix alt text advice section?

js: first path is editorial, directly
... decision was that authoring guidance was to be right there in the document, and easiest to fix that

sf: my goal would be to reduce the normative text to be lexical and having examples as examples.

js: it would seem the best place to be current, is for it to be in supporting documentation...

Subteam Reports: Bug Triage; AAPI Mapping;

dm: i agree that fixing the 4.8 would be acceptable path

LW: making good progress... there are a few drag and drop bugs... GEZ looked at them... may close exisiting bugs and review that part of the spec again
... Everett and gez are best qualified, but are not available

js: maybe rich, but he is quite busy

sf: the section is a number of pages

js: a number of pages

lw: some bugs are assigned to hixie, we are not sure who should pick those up...

<lwatson> https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=10873

sf: asking for new feature to add tooltip without title... should be done in an extension spec

js: should close bug

sk: could move it to wiki html next stuff

<Stevef> http://www.w3.org/wiki/HTML/next

<lwatson> https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=8885
