<scribe> Agenda: Review action items, New business
<jkiss> ACTION: jkiss to follow up with James Craig on proposed Mac mappings and solicit input from lists on same [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2012/02/07-aapi-minutes.html#action01]
<jkiss> http://dvcs.w3.org/hg/html-api-map/raw-file/tip/Overview3.html
jkiss has updated overview3. Reformatted the tables, added table summaries. Works with keyboard and mouse.
Problems with JAWS/NVDA in IE/FF...in some cases, space bar fires nested link.
jkiss started by forking ?'s item, they've been talking about issues.
NVDA was going into forms mode if setfocus was on summary element, would exit forms mode if you tabbed to a nested link
jkiss tried several possible solutions, none made much of a difference
Stevef has more information on latest mappings from Mac
group needs to decide which layout we're going to continue to modify (now we have 3)
First, input from developers is needed to determine which layout is best.
<jkiss> http://dvcs.w3.org/hg/html-api-map/raw-file/tip/Overview3.html
<cyns> test
overview2 had first conversion test, overview3 has table summaries and drop-down text
right now, search isn't effective with items collapsed; with an "expand all" trigger, search would work. Doc would need note to explain this.
items include summary and detail.
<jkiss> char: jkiss used Mathias Bynens' jquery-details plugin, they've been talking about issues.
Now discussing multiple tables v single table. Browser implementers would probably prefer single table to see all entries for one concept.
davidb says ARIA was implemented along with development, probably wouldn't have used single table the way it was intended
cyns trying to understand implementers' workflow (is it tag-by-tag or by concept?)
davidb says generally now, it's tag-specific.
cyns says Microsoft generally does lots of things at once
davidb says one of the functions of this document is interoperability, They would look down the individual columns of the table to see any areas of divergence.
But Firefox and Chrome do multiple mappings. (Safari so far hasn't done anything on Windows.)
cyns will talk to Michael about being able to flip the table views.
<scribe> ACTION: cyns will talk to Michael about being able to flip the table views. [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2012/02/07-aapi-minutes.html#action02]
we don't know W3C standards on duplication of content in a doc
<Stevef> morning/afternoon etc
<scribe> ACTION: jkiss will test proof-of-concept of getting all values for API (I used "concept" above) in one table [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2012/02/07-aapi-minutes.html#action03]
<Stevef> apologies will not make the meet, am in process of getting daughter to bed after poo accident
jkiss says it's a quick test to determine if it will work
jkiss says DOM manipulation is more significant when flipping table view
lweiss points out that going to a table-flipping view means that we're back to one table when editing
<Stevef> worth mentioning: http://www.html5accessibility.com/ as part of this work noted that safari on mac have implemented html5 structural elements using mainly wai-aria roles, so shoudl add this info where applicable to mac accessibility api
jkiss cleaned up the code in overview3, much easier to make changes without adding mistakes
<Stevef> have recorded role etc info in comments here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AlVP5_A996c5dGlZdy1rcmhoalF1a2pJYXc4S3NaV2c&hl=en_GB#gid=1
<Stevef> ctahc you all next week hopefully!
<Stevef> catch
could have one table with collapsible columns to limit table width
could have one main table with many view options
collapsible columns, view by element, etc.
stevef sent link to doc with more info that can be added to whatever overview doc we decide to use
<scribe> ACTION: jkiss will add Steve's information to overview (original) [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2012/02/07-aapi-minutes.html#action04]
One large table identifies everything an implementer needs to do for one API...it's just unwieldy in layout (and when printed, so that has to be accommodated, too)
cyns will get the wiki set up, Char will transfer info
