Talk:GGIE TF/UseCases/User Discovery

--Topics for Discussion-- If I am not following correct protocol/etiquette pls let me know. I am new to this.

I volunteered to take the lead on this topic. To that end I am kick starting the discussion by listing some of the topics that have been mentioned. 1) providing data on client capabilities - formats/codecs supported, buffering capabilities, existing content subscriptions/licenses, etc., for use in returning better targeted responses to search/discovery. 2) including content cost (to user) data with responses to content search/discovery, including lease/rent/buy/etc., and including (potentially) cost for sources to which the user does not have a subscription/license. 3) AdId metadata enabling a user to search/discover information pertaining to ads/ad topics to enable users to set preferences for e.g. targeted ads. Rather than simple opt in/out for tracking information, the user might choose to opt out of tracking while opting in to setting preferences for ads. Enables better control over private information while still benefiting from,m and potentially improving targeting of ads. 4) General: Privacy issues. Any data associated with the client or user most likely includes private information. Should there be one or more UCs specific to privacy or(and) should each UC address any privacy issues relating to it?

My suggestions for this group are that anyone wishing to post a UC should do so using the UC template and post it on the Use Cases/User Discovery page. Specific comments on/edits to specific UCs can be done directly on the UC page. I believe a Comments section has been added to the template for that purpose. Discussions not specific to a posted UC, or general discussions on posted UCs can be done on this Talk page. Feel free to suggest alternative approaches. William Rose (talk) 18:48, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
