Description:

HTML5 video and audio tags should support the identification of program boundaries in continuous streams to accommodate features associated with the beginning or end of a program (e.g. change in content rating, authorization, etc.).

  1. This must work for both adaptive and non-adaptive codecs.


Motivation:

  1. Support for program boundary features even if the video stream is continuous


Dependencies:

  1. Existing standards and practices in use in broadcast television


What needs to be standardized

  1. Consistent markers and/or time-base to indicate program boundaries in continuous streams (as defined in two other MPTF use cases)
