Description:

Commercial video providers deliver content to their users in a variety of, and potentially new, distribution windows. To do so, they must provide delivery solutions that enforce content owner security and usage rights requirements for those delivery windows.


Motivation:

  1. This allows service providers to make high-value content available earlier to HTML5 clients.

What needs to be standardized

A way for HTML5 user agents to implement content protection that:

  1. Meets content owner requirements for distribution windows.
  2. Can be supported by embedded and off the shelf user agents.
  3. Allows use of the video audio elements to access the content
