The W3C Government Linked Data Working Group

Short description: The mission of the Government Linked Data (GLD) Working Group is to provide standards and other information which help governments around the world publish their data as effective and usable Linked Data using Semantic Web technologies.

Alternative/existing provenance standard? (Or a complementary concept?) The charter for the GLD WG includes indentifying appropriate vocabularies for certain purposes, including provenance. The connection with the Provenance Interchange Working Group has been identified by them in their charter- "Its work is likely to be very useful for government linked data deployments, and the GLD WG should make sure its use cases are understood and, if possible, addressed by this group."

Domain specific? (If yes, is it only a domain specific convention for a general provenance standard? If yes, which one?)

Yes - government linked data.

Subject specific? (Are there any restrictions on the subject of the provenance information?)

Government data can cover a wide range of subjects.

Based on existing data model? (Is the standard/concept embedded in an existing general standard or data model?)

GLD WG proposes to select and recommend vocabularies.

Are there bridges/crosswalks to other standards?

Are there documented use cases that should be taken into consideration for the Provenance WG?

Known, relevant issues?
