paulc: there are two
TrackerRequests that will likely be converted to issues; this
does not require chairs to do that
... in all likelihood, the chairs will move to a call for
change proposals
paulc: none
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html/2011Jun/0092.html
<pimpbot> Title: CfC: Publish HTML5 Edition for Web Authors as First Public Working Draft from Sam Ruby on 2011-06-07 (public-html@w3.org from June 2011) (at lists.w3.org)
paulc: although it has been published, it has never been published as a public working draft
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html/2011Jun/0195.html
<pimpbot> Title: CfC addendum: Status wording for HTML5 Edition for Web Authors from Maciej Stachowiak on 2011-06-14 (public-html@w3.org from June 2011) (at lists.w3.org)
paulc: maciej sent out two
options, and so far we have input that some can't live with
option 2
... the chairs will likely process this item on monday
julian: will we make any effort to make the content of the author spec consistent with the last call spec?
paulc: mike has been traveling so we haven't been able to close this, but he has said that it was generated from an incorrect version
<Julian> +1 on both
paulc: furthermore, it is our intent to make it look like a working draft (frontmatter, status, etc)
<Zakim> MikeSmith, you wanted to say yeah, doable
MikeSmith: I've been with
unpredictable connectivity, the fact the documents were out of
sync was not intentional
... it is easy enough to do
... as to style, we probably will need to do that, but part of
the intent is to make it more author friendly, and the standard
W3C style is not particularly friendly.... but we are likely to
be stuck with that
... this may make some more happy and some less happy, but I
can get that work done
<Julian> can't we improve the style consistently for both?
<MikeSmith> Julian, yeah, wish we could, but that's a bigger fish to fry
paulc: we want to thank you for doing all of the heavy lifting for the publication cycle; it takes a lot of work to produce 9 docs
<MikeSmith> :)

paulc: call for proposals due June 25
<Julian> I will
paulc: who on the call is actively working on these items?
ted: I'm looking into doing a change proposal for issue 133; might be a zero edit proposal; I may ask for an extension
paulc: please respond on the mailing list
hober: will do
<Julian> I will work on CPs for ISSUE-153 and ISSUE-154 (which will be similar)
paulc: responding on the mailing
list will reduce duplicate work
... did you respond on the list?
julian: I will do that
paulc: if people need extensions,
we encourage these requests to be made in advance
... we now have volunteers for all four calls

<pimpbot> Title: New Information Status (at dev.w3.org)
<pimpbot> 1112952: shelleyp, P3, RESOLVED WONTFIX, 13remove typemustmatch
paulc: can anybody give us status
on any of the particular items?
... several of these are worked on by a11y subteams... janina
can you provide status?
janina: yes
issue-31?
<trackbot> ISSUE-31 -- Author conformance requirements for the alt attribute on images -- closed
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/html/wg/tracker/issues/31
<pimpbot> Title: ISSUE-31: Author conformance requirements for the alt attribute on images - HTML Weekly Tracker (at www.w3.org)
paulc: there were two items on
this issue
... first was "Adopt the REQUIREMENTS portion of the "Provide
detailed instructions and examples for doing so to all readers
of the HTML specification."
... "The presence of <meta name=generator> makes missing
alt conforming"
janina: don't know of any discussion on the first one, we do have intent to clean up Leif's change proposal and submit it.
paulc: which subgroup?
janina: text subteam
paulc: can you take this one back to the a11y TF?
janina: will do
issue-32?
<trackbot> ISSUE-32 -- how to provide a summary of a table, e.g. for unsighted navigation? -- closed

<pimpbot> Title: ISSUE-32: how to provide a summary of a table, e.g. for unsighted navigation? - HTML Weekly Tracker (at www.w3.org)
janina: we have found others to
pick this item back up
... again, the text subteam
issue-56?
<trackbot> ISSUE-56 -- Bring "URLs" section/definition and IRI specification in alignment. -- closed
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/html/wg/tracker/issues/56
<pimpbot> Title: ISSUE-56: Bring "URLs" section/definition and IRI specification in alignment. - HTML Weekly Tracker (at www.w3.org)
paulc: does anyone on the call know the status of this?
julian: the IRI wg has a new co-chair, but I don't know if this has produced any concrete action yet
paulc: I believe that the IRI WG wants to decrease the difference between the IRI spec and the HTML5 spec
issue-80?
<trackbot> ISSUE-80 -- document conformance and device dependent display of title attribute content -- closed
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/html/wg/tracker/issues/80
<pimpbot> Title: ISSUE-80: document conformance and device dependent display of title attribute content - HTML Weekly Tracker (at www.w3.org)
janina: this is from the text subteam, the proposal from Steve Faulkner is the one from the subteam
paulc: we have two, one from
Steve and one from Leif
... it would be helpful to converge on one within the
subteam
issue-120?
<trackbot> ISSUE-120 -- Use of prefixes is too complicated for a Web technology -- closed
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/html/wg/tracker/issues/120
<pimpbot> Title: ISSUE-120: Use of prefixes is too complicated for a Web technology - HTML Weekly Tracker (at www.w3.org)
paulc: does anyone know if they
are continuing to work on this?
... will mark that one for the chairs to follow up on
issue-131?
<trackbot> ISSUE-131 -- Should we add a caret location API to canvas, or is the focus API sufficient? -- closed
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/html/wg/tracker/issues/131
<pimpbot> Title: ISSUE-131: Should we add a caret location API to canvas, or is the focus API sufficient? - HTML Weekly Tracker (at www.w3.org)
paulc: we have one change proposal from Richard
janina: the canvas subteam is
working on this
... I don't know what the current status is
issue-142?
<trackbot> ISSUE-142 -- No alternative text description for video key frame (poster) -- closed
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/html/wg/tracker/issues/142
<pimpbot> Title: ISSUE-142: No alternative text description for video key frame (poster) - HTML Weekly Tracker (at www.w3.org)
janina: this is the media
subteam... we have a markup proposal
... we are trying to think this through end to end
... I have an action item to get some people into a meeting
next week
paulc: good sign that you are making progress
issue-155?
<trackbot> ISSUE-155 -- make <table border="1" cellpadding="10" cellspacing="0"> conforming -- closed
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/html/wg/tracker/issues/155
<pimpbot> Title: ISSUE-155: make conforming - HTML Weekly Tracker (at www.w3.org)
paulc: this came from Tab.... I haven't seen any progress... anybody know what the status is?
janina: the text subteam will look into this
mjs: Given what he said, I'm not sure that tab intends to produce a reopen request on this one
paulc: the chairs will follow up
with Tab
... I'll explicity copy janina on the status
... you have a lot of items, we encourage you to spring loose
as many as you can as early as possible
... any other items?
janina: one more on issue-31 dealing with figcaption.... we generally agree with the decision, but there are other specific cases where figcaption is not acceptable as a fallback (e.g. in epub and scientific pubs).
paulc: it either is a reconsider or a new bug
janina: we will raise it more broadly on the WG lists
paulc: once we see it on the
list, we will start to track it
... this discussion has been useful, and the chairs will follow
up on the remaining two items
<Zakim> Julian, you wanted to talk about http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=12952 which has TrackerRequest keyword
<pimpbot> 1112952: shelleyp, P3, RESOLVED WONTFIX, 13remove typemustmatch
julian: we can avoid having this one be a tracker item if it is reverted
paulc: the chairs will look into this...we are working on the decision policy
http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=12935
<pimpbot> 1112935: bzbarsky, P2, RESOLVED WONTFIX, 13<rt> should not auto-close ancestors
rubys: the status on this one looks confused... TrackerRequest was added and removed
paulc: any other business?
mjs: I will chair next week
paulc: volunteer to scribe?
... I'll scribe
paulc: we are adjourned
