role="presentation"

UAIG is out of sync with the spec

David has concerns - understanding was that implementation could be more flexible

AS: if role="presentation" can receive focus, it's okay to expose it

CS: sounds like an authoring error and should be in the authoring guide
... but can imagine a scenario where the click handler gets bound late and the object is not in the tree
... agree that if it is focusable, role="presentation" should be ignored

bug 11805

http://www.w3.org/WAI/PF/aria-implementation/#notify_state_changes

CS: thinks the language we have is supposed to account for the <input type=checkbox checked aria-checked=mixed>
... HTML 5 doesn't support "mixed" state for checkboxes
... at Boston meeting, thought we were going to submit a bug on HTML 5, don't know if we ever did that
... agreement with HTML 5 WG is that we would allow HTML 5 to forbid certain WAI-ARIA attributes

<scribe> ACTION: Andi to start e-mail thread with James and Michael to resolve [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2011/02/17-aapi-minutes.html#action01]

<davidb> DB: I echo James' concerns

bug 11510

DB: all I care about is that we don't allow the action to happen
... issue 88 wants the actions to not be exposed if aria-disabled="true"
... if checkbox has action but is disabled, should UA expose the action?

CS: nothing would happen if you tried to perform the action but think the action is still exposed

DB: think they should be exposed as normal but performing the action should not work

<scribe> ACTION: Andi to send an e-mail to Sally about issue-88. Ask for clarification and let her know that our preference is to expose the action but just not allow it to happen [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2011/02/17-aapi-minutes.html#action02]

AS: is this not confusing to the user?

DB: user will know that it is disabled

CS: think this is consistent with how it works for native controls

bug to Cynthia to check that this is the behavior for native controls
